This spine-tingling footage shows a common krait snake, one of the world's most venomous, slither into its victim's bed.

The Indian krait are known for finding their way into people's homes and have been known to give bites which paralyse and kill.

This BBC earth footage shows the snake slide among the bedding of a sleeping human before giving them a near-undetectable bite. 

Fast-acting toxic venom from the snake then courses through its victim's veins causing paralysis.

If left untreated the poisonous bite can kill the person before they wake up and limited clues are left as to why.

Tribal myths suggest that the snake coils up on the chest of their target and then 'sucks their breath a way'.
