She thought maybe sleep would help, but when she woke up the next morning her face was severely swollen, with small blisters on her skin, her eyes puffed up and her lips almost double in size.

After the redness died down, photos show how her skin developed a leathery texture and peeled off.

Many commenters sympathized with Ellie, as they revealed they'd endured similar sun damage.

TikToker @llioeriin revealed she had a similar result to Ellie after being blasted by too much sun.

At one point she couldn't open either of her eyes or see anything as her eyelids were so swollen.

By the time she headed to the airport to go home, her entire face started peeling.

TikToker @kelcrid22 said she sustained severe sunburn on her legs and as a result, she was unable to walk properly for two days.

She explained to viewers that she burnt despite applying sunscreen.

After blistering, her legs started to peel 'like glue' and it took around four weeks for them to heal properly.
