Oh, brother! Prince Louis, two, looks just like Prince George in new photo released to thank royal fans for their birthday well-wishes

  • Duke and Duchess of Cambridge released an unseen photo of Prince Louis
  • Shared the snap to thank royal fans for their well-wishes on his second birthday
  • Photo, taken by Kate Middleton, shows Louis grinning at the camera
  • It was taken at the same time as photos released to mark the occasion in April

With his mop of blonde hair and gap-toothed grin, Prince Louis looks just like his big brother Prince George in the new photo released by the Cambridges.

Louis, who turned two in April, bears a strong resemblance to his older brother, now seven, as well as his father Prince William as a young boy.

The similarity is particularly striking when the photo is placed side-by-side with one released to mark Prince George's fourth birthday, in which he wears a similar smart shirt and beams at his mother, who took both photos, with the same unbridled joy.

The new snap, taken by Kate Middleton at the family home of Anmer Hall, Norfolk, was sent to royal fans to thank them for their well-wishes on the prince's second birthday.

The image was shared on Instagram over the weekend by royal fan account @katsroyalletters, which is based in Germany.

It was printed on the back of a short thank you note from Kate Middleton, 38, and Prince William, 38, which reads: 'The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge appreciated your kind thought in writing to Prince Louis as you did on the occasion of his second birthday.

'This was greatly appreciated by Their Royal Highnesses who send you their best wishes.'

The photo shows Louis smiling for the camera as he stands against a wall at Anmer Hall, the Cambridges' Norfolk home.

It was taken at the same time as six other images that were released by the couple to mark their youngest son's birthday.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge last week whisked their children George, seven, Charlotte, five, and Louis off for a staycation on the Isles of Scilly.

The family were spotted 'enjoying the weather' and stopping to greet their fellow holidaymakers as they cycled across Tresco last Thursday.

William is no stranger to the beauty spot, having visited the same island with his brother Harry and parents Charles and Diana as a child in June 1989.

He also visited the island with Kate in 2016, with images showing the pair boarding a boat to St Martins after visiting the Tresco Abbey Garden.
