Once more, science provides bad news for global warming alarmists. U.S. CO2 levels again declined during 2017, despite overall global output again rising. Credit U.S. fracking and the natural gas boom. But don't worry: the hysteria won't end.
The new report, based on U.S. data, shows clearly the U.S. continuing downward trend.
"The U.S. emitted 15.6 metric tons of CO2 per person in 1950," wrote the Daily Caller. "After rising for decades, it's declined in recent years to 15.8 metric tons per person in 2017, the lowest measured levels in 67 years."
That's right. 67 years. Green groups and leftist climate extremists should be exulting. The U.S. has found a way to produce more GDP — making all of us better off — with less energy.
Meanwhile, Europe has imposed massive economy-deadening regulations on its economies in order to reduce CO2 output. How has that worked?
Last year, European output of CO2 rose 1.5%, while U.S. output fell 0.5%. For the record, the disaster predicted when President Trump left the Paris climate agreement and rejected draconian EPA restrictions on power plants hasn't materialized. On the contrary, the U.S. model has been shown to be superior.
This isn't the first time we've reported the ongoing decline in U.S. CO2. And if current trends hold, it won't be the last. And, to be sure, it is a long-term trend.
The U.S. Energy Information Administration's latest energy report notes that, from 2005 to 2017, U.S. energy related emissions of carbon dioxide plunged by 861 million metric tons, a 14% drop. It's both a result of the decline due to the Great Recession and the fracking revolution.
The EIA forecast expects a very slight uptick over the next two years in the U.S. as the economy continues its Trump boom.

Because CO2 is a tool for other goals and “green groups” are easily used by groups in an effort to achieve things like
* wealth redistribution
* communism
* making Elon Musk rich
Decreased CO2 makes it harder to achieve the real goals.
This is NOT good.
CO2: I believe is a lagging indicator of the true cause of climate change ... the sun.
CO2 is plant food. It is absorbed by growing things. But it is also part of a cycle. If it is a warming cycle CO2 will be released and plants will prosper. After extended mediocre solar activity the levels may start dropping as not enough is being released from reservoirs like the oceans in the natural cycle.
Then as things start to finally get cold ... we are screwed.
Though granted it would take time.
Aside: given people’s short term memory probably time enough for anthropogenic global warming to be recast as anthropogenic global cooling.

Yeah, but there are more than twice as many people in the US today than in 1950...cherry-picking the data to make an invalid point (US CO2 levels dropping, that is)...
Don’t worry. Our contribution to worldwide carbon emissions in either direction is totally insignificant.

They aren’t rejoicing, because Trump gets the credit for his policies instead of them.
And the crops. Smaller harvests will be, of course, attributed to AGW rather than to less CO2 for the plant life.

The O2 cleaved from the CO2 by the plant during photosynthesis is emitted back to the atmosphere and then used by animals for respiration and the waste product of respiration is CO2, which is sent back into the atmosphere to be used by the plants. You blood pulls o2 thru the lungs and it makes the blood bright red and delivers it to the cells and picks up the co2 from the cells which makes it rusty red color and the co2 is emitted by the lungs.
That is the carbon-oxygen cycle on earth. That is not a problem.
The problem is that in earlier times, over millions and billions of years, huge amounts of these carbon compounds were produced and stored in the ground as coal, oil, and natural gas. They are truly fossils
Over a very short period of time huge amounts of these materials were dug up and burned. we have burned coal for only 300 yrs, oil for about a 100 years, and nat gas for even less.
And over this short time period the earths population has grown exponentially to 7 billion and will reach 11 billion by 2100. And as more nations grow their economy more will need fossil fuels
The headline made it sound like the ambient CO2 concentration in the atmosphere had declined...which would be surprising news to me...but its just US CO2 output, which is not remarkable at all. Either way I am not convinced its a good thing, because I don’t think raising CO2 levels is a bad thing, but I think its a potentially misleading headline.
