Republican Senate candidate Kevin Nicholson has launched his first television ad of the primary, calling it a “disgrace” that Congress won’t stop illegal immigration or build a border wall.
Nicholson unveiled the ad Wednesday, shortly after the release of a Marquette University Law School poll that showed the race between him and state Sen. Leah Vukmir about even.
The ad comes after outside groups have already spent about $10 million either supporting Nicholson or knocking Democratic Sen. Tammy Baldwin.
In his new ad , Nicholson touts his experience serving as a Marine in Afghanistan and Iraq and says that “career politicians” are wasting “this moment.” He says “for America, it’s now or never.”
He does not mention Vukmir in the spot.

Former Wisconsin Gov. Tommy Thompson is condemning the entrance of the national Club for Growth in this year’s Republican U.S. Senate primary.
Thompson won the 2012 GOP Senate primary, despite the Club for Growth spending millions supporting one of his Republican challengers Mark Neumann.
Thompson went on to lose to Democrat Tammy Baldwin in 2012. She’s running for re-election this year with Republican state Sen. Leah Vukmir and management consultant Kevin Nicholson seeking the GOP nomination.
Club for Growth is running $2 million worth of attack ads against Vukmir.
Thompson says the group is “at it again” in a statement issued by the Vukmir campaign Wednesday. Thompson says the Club for Growth is “wasting precious resources that would be better used in the general election.”
Thompson has yet to endorse in the race.
