Let's go back to where it all began.

It's Thanksgiving here in the United States, which means that if you're anything like me you're going to spend the day with family, lounging around and eating way too much. Sounds pretty good, right? I thought I'd add one more treat to the mix though for this year. Our very first episode of Talking Watches debuted a little more than six years ago, and since then we've published nearly 50 incredible videos and stories, sharing the perspectives of the world's most interesting watch collectors. Today we're going back to the beginning.

That first episode was with none other than Mr. John Mayer and it debuted on September 25, 2013. The following four episodes would include a professional basketball player, a horological scholar, an entrepreneur, and another world-renowned musician. Some of the most iconic Talking Watches moments of all time are in these first few episodes and it's well worth giving them another watch. So pour yourself a glass of something good, put up your feet, and enjoy.

Episode 1 – John Mayer

This is the episode that started it all. Personally, I remember the shoot like it was yesterday, since it went on to become a truly defining HODINKEE moment. This original episode is full of stories about forming personal connections with watches and it set the bar pretty high for Talking Watches from day one.

Episode 2 – J.J. Redick

How do you follow up a premier episode with John Mayer? Like this. J.J. Redick surprised a lot of people with his collection, which was devoid of the usual "athlete watches" that many expected to see. Instead, his taste skewed towards the likes of F.P. Journe, Vacheron Constantin, and Patek Philippe. This one's an all-time classic.

Episode 3 – John Goldberger

I've got two words for you: cheese knife. If you don't know what I'm talking about, stop reading and click play right away. This is one of the most talked about episodes of Talking Watches and for plenty of good reasons. John Goldberger brought the heat in a big way, sharing some truly incredible watches, from a Rolex ref. 4113 split-seconds chronograph to a unique white gold ref. 6265 Daytona and a whole lot more. If you're only going to watch one Talking Watches, this might be the one to see.

Episode 4 – Alan Maleh

Alan brought a new perspective to Talking Watches in the fourth episode. While he's certainly a watch collector, he's also a lover of vintage cars, classic furniture, men's fashion, and a whole lot more. His perspective on watch collecting is influenced by all of these things and takes a much more holistic, lifestyle-driven approach. His energy is also totally infectious.

Episode 5 – Eric Singer

Alright, last up for today is our conversation with KISS drummer Eric Singer. The rockstar invited us to his Hollywood home to talk about his diverse taste in watches, originally inspired by his father. From old-school JLC calendar watches to modern Fifty Fathoms, most of his watches have a personal story or memory attached to them.
