“Have you ever entered a concert, unsure if you would make it out alive by night's end?” That’s the ominous opening line to GQ senior entertainment editor Frazier Tharpe’s 2015 review of Travis Scott’s Rodeo Tour—his very first professional concert review. We’re happy to report that Frazier did, in fact, survive the night—and came away with this very good T-shirt to show for it.
More than just a warm reminder of his career milestone, Frazier’s Travis Scott tee hearkens back to a simpler time in the GQ cover star’s still-skyrocketing career. Before he became a branding king with his own McDonald’s combo meal, perpetually sold-out Nikes, and live Fortnite events, Travis purveyed solely in plain old concert merch. “It’s just a great shirt, with a striking, clean design that stands out,” Frazier says, “but also stands apart at a time now when Travis merch is ubiquitous and more overtly branded.” Which means, of course, it’ll likely only continue to accrue value as Travis’s star keeps rising. “Crazy to think that the spring 2015 tour could now reasonably be considered ‘vintage,’” Frazier says. “Maybe I should stop wearing it so often.”
