A woman has revealed her fury after finding a note from a snobby resident on the windscreen of her £12,000 Skoda suggesting it 'makes the street look like Beiruit.'  

Julia Laursen, 56, from Isle of Wight, said she was stunned to discover the note attached to her car when she parked in Shanklin and shared a snap of it to Facebook earlier this week.

The note, which had been signed off 'the Littlestairs Road Management', asked her to move the vehicle because she was 'bringing down the neighbourhood'.

It read: 'We don’t drive such vehicles so perhaps you could in future park it somewhere more appropriate. Like the dump! Thanks.'

Shanklin is one of the most popular holiday destinations on the Isle of Wight, with a long wide sandy beach and an Old Village packed with independent shops. 

The cul-de-sac is a two minute walk from the beach, and lined with detached properties, with prices reaching up to £725,000 for the largest seven-bedroom homes. 

Other cars parked along the street, which may have been deemed more acceptable by the Littlestairs Road management, include hatchback BMWs and Range Rovers.

She was left horrified by the letter and hit back at the homeowners living in her posh, beachside street.   

It began: 'I hope you don’t mind, but would you kindly not park your vehicle on this road please? This is a nice respectable road and it now looks like Beirut.' 

Posting on Facebook, she wrote: 'What the f**k! Because my car isn't a show off Range Rover or some other 4x4 for popping the kids to and from school.

'Call all my island friends with slightly rougher, but much loved looking vehicles.

'Pop over to Littlestairs Road in Shanklin and give these t*****s a taste of what Beirut might look like.'  

According to the official Visit Isle of Wight site, the town has 'all the charm of a proper seaside town and set against the dramatic sandstone cliffs.'    

Shanklin Beach is a one of the Isle of Wight’s best known stretches of golden sands, and is backed onto by a traditional English seafront promenade. 

While some of the properties on Littlestairs Road are larger and detached, others are smaller semi-detached properties, costing between £300,000 to £500,000.

The street, which is a stone's throw from the beach, is mainly home to couples and families, with census data indicating most of the residents are between the ages of 45 to 59

There are also two four-star hotels on the street and the Art Deco House, a large self-catering property which was built in 1929.  

Julia's post quickly went viral, with hundreds of people throwing their support behind her.

One person commented: 'Wow, just wow,' while another added: 'Is that for real?'

Meanwhile a third person said: 'I think you should keep parking there, install a dash cam to see who keeps coming to put a note.

'Alternatively, can the residents maybe pay for new ‘worthy’ car for you instead?' 

'This has made my day Julia,' another person wrote, 'It is extremely funny but so sad to see the sort of privilege the people that wrote this came from.'

Meanwhile another person commented: 'Just ignore it.'
