So I was kinda watching the fight again, I turned it right after the finish so didn't really see anything happened after since I was so bummed out, but I watched it again today and even without watching it again, I remember thinking Fedor put himself in a bad situation. I'm not too sure if it was Bader beating his face in after dropping him, or Bader's wrestling/size/strength/BJJ black belt being too much for Fedor to get out of it.

But regardless, it was a tough position to get out of, but you don't see too many fights finished from that position. I guess It was kinda similar to what Robbie did to Ben for a bit in their fight.

He had to roll to his stomach and give up the back or roll to his back and give up mount or half guard...either way bad positions..thats the purpose of that position...to beat the snot out of ur opponent untill he gives up and even worse position... Fedor tried to just ride it out hoping Bader would tire or another option would materialize...it didnt and the fight got stopped

Being about 20 years younger might have helped

Fedor had a back injury confirmed by Vadim Nemkov and his boxing coach Alexander Michkov. They said that Fedor didn't even train for this fight. His movement looked horrible and hindered.

The Fedor from the Tim Johnson fight and the Fedor from last night were two entirely different people in terms of movement. Fedor had no bounce in his step last night, it looked like he couldn't even plant his feet.

That was a tough position to be in but being younger, more mobile and stronger in the clinch may prevent a fighter from being put into that position.

it's mostly just half guard. It's just hard to get out of when you are hurt and someone is punching your face a lot

Of course easier said than done, but you need to rotate, giving up your back. And continue rotating to basically do a full 360 back to bottom side.

You can get fancy and do a slightly angled front roll (kinda Ukemi-ish angle) and potentially create a scramble.

Obviously a terrible position to get stuck in and it's best to avoid it. You do have to risk putting yourself in terrible positions to escape it.
