I feel like the MMA community writes off Sean O’Malley as a serious contender but IMO he’s probably gonna hold the belt at the end of 2023.

I mean he’s a guy who wins fights and often spectacularly, I think the Chito loss may have hurt his reputation some but if those two were to run it back I would bet the house that Vera gets finished within two rounds.

Idk if I’m overrating him or if everyone is underrating him but Dude to me would be an easy favorite over just about everyone in the BW division . He has all time great elite level striking paired with a (seemingly) decent BJJ base.

Just so I have this straight - Chito Vera has never been finished in 27 professional fights, that includes fighting guys like Jose Aldo, Edgar and Rob Font, but Sean O'Malley, who he brutalized, would be the first ever to stop him?

You have got to realize how stupid this sounds?

Saying O'Malley would be the favorite with "just about anyone" in a division as stacked as BW is insane. He wouldn't get pass Murab let alone some killers who aren't even in the top 10. He doesn't have any significant wins, and is fighting relative cans in UFC terms. Getting the special treatment of constant show case matchups which most fighters don't get.
And to top it off when he did step up he lost in embarrassing fashion. Not at all sold.

Also he openly just wants to fight cans for money. At least he's honest I guess.

This part I very much support. The UFC is only paying 18% of revenue to fighters, so you have a situation where the promoter is keeping virtually ALL the money.

This isn't a karate movie and nobody should give a shit about the trophy the UFC gives out. Prize fighting is about making the most money while taking the least brain damage.

If the UFC actually ran this like a sport with merit based rankings and matches, and a reasonable split of the money coming in, sure. Until that changes, its crazy to think you want tough fights for jabroni money.

your premise is wrong. he's not a prodigy. He just looks like one because they're putting him in against punching bags.

No one knows if he’s being underrated or overrated because he never fights good competition. The one time he did, he lost, albeit in fluky fashion.
I like O’Malley as a fighter, I think he’s very talented. Hopefully the Munhoz fight will help answer some questions.

Nowadays if a fighter doesn't come from Russia then they're all hype, if the are from Russia, then they're these "mysterious unbeatable" monsters. Aljimain Sterling from the East Coast didn't buy that bullshit and whooped Yankees ass, thats why he doesn't get the respect he deserves here.

The MMA "community" operates in a very childish way sometimes.

People just don't like what the see TS. You're gonna get some of that with face tatts and the rainbow hair, and that's before he opens his mouth. Just sayin'.
