Leon Edwards ready to fight Jorge Masvidal before end of year: ‘Stop with the excuses’

With Jorge Masvidal targeting a December return, Leon Edwards is happy to step up and answer that call.

In a recent Q&A on his Twitter, Masvidal (35-15 MMA, 12-8 UFC) said he’s looking to return against anyone who gets him closer to the title and the streaking Edwards is happy to oblige.

Edwards (19-3 MMA, 11-2 UFC) has made it clear that after their backstage altercation at UFC London, which resulted in Masvidal striking him with the infamous “three piece and a soda,” they absolutely need to settle the score – and the December timeframe works for him, too.

I’ll be ready in November or December. Stop with the excuses #backinblood”

Masvidal is coming off back-to-back title losses to UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman, but remains one of the sport’s biggest stars. With years of back-and-forth between him and Edwards, a fight would certainly garner interest, but “Gamebred” has been rather dismissive of the idea.

“Stop chasing clout you already turned down the fight you little b*tch. You just did an interview saying you don’t want it.”

But if Masvidal is eyeing another crack at the title, no fighter will give him a better opportunity to get there than Edwards, who’s unbeaten in his past 10 fights and is coming off a dominant win over Nate Diaz at UFC 263, where he was able to fend off Diaz’s late surge.
