Should minors (under 18) be allowed to have sex change surgery?

I read a story the other day about a kid in elementary school going through sex change surgery. I think that is insane. The parents said since the kid was very young it identified as the opposite sex.

Of course not. It shouldn't even be named a sex change surgery.
 
Until it can actually replace genitalia with working genitalia Id say obviously not.
 
Sex changes are medical malpractice and child abuse. And that also includes them giving 8 year olds puberty blockers. These doctors who mutilate and destroy these kids should lose their medical license and be thrown in prison. And the parents that teach the transsexualism to their kids should also be thrown in prison

So the answer is no

I vehemently oppose children being given hormones for "sex changes" or to "satisfy" gender dysphoria. Actual surgery? Absolutely fucking not. That's disgustingly evil and should be considered one of the highest forms of child abuse.

I have zero issue with trans people or even teenagers who identify as trans. But you should absolutely be barred from hormal transitions and surgeries until you are legally an adult and able to be fully cognizant of your decision.
 
No, and they should not be given puberty blockers either. Transgenderism is a delusion, and there is no evidence that plastic surgery and/or exogenous hormones is a true long term benefit to the person who attempts to "change their sex". We should not be letting people who are not fully developed, like children, or those who are clearly mentally ill, make these big alterations to themselves. The potential for regret and it's negative consequences is high, the drugs required can have bad health effects, and there is zero evidence that it really improves their lives.
 
If a child even talks about things like that then it has been abused. Mental abuse is a thing as well.

It should be banned on adults as well. It's not healthcare. It's furthering a mental illness. Doctors should be sending these people for counseling instead of giving them hormones/surgery, which is malpractice whether it's an adult or a kid.

But the LGBTQ lobby and agenda is pretty popular, the last presidential administration pushed this through and Biden was a big part of it.
 
There's already a ton of young people on YT talking about how they were encouraged to transition when they were confused teens and now that they have de-transitioned they live with regret because they have permanent damage from the puberty blockers and hormones. Too bad nobody could have seen that coming :rolleyes:
 
If they're emancipated or if they have parental consent and a doctor has signed off on it.

Anything beyond that, you're starting to regulate individual medical decisions, which I generally prefer the government to stay out of.
 
I dont care what an adult does to their own body. In the US we are not capable of handling the mental health needs of cis sex people, let alone the needs of transexuals. I believe a person should seek out therapy before going under the knife.

Part of the problem we have as a society is that we try to force people into specific gender roles. "This is how you should act if you are a man." This puts mental stress on those that do not have intrest in the biological genders "role" in society. I dont care who an adult has sex with, as long as it is another consenting adult.

People should be allowed to dress and Express themselves in any way they wish. We need to stop trying to push the idea that you arent a real man if you dont act a certain way. Hell I think this forum is probably more guilty of that than most.
 
No, also 'puberty blockers' shouldn't be given unless medically necessary.
History is full of trans people that went through puberty. The natural changes that occur in puberty shouldnt be stopped.
 
If they’re old enough to be a coal minor then they can make decisions that concern their body,
