In the ongoing struggle between US authorities and Chinese company Huawei Technologies, new details have surfaced alleging misconduct on Huawei's part. The Department of Justice is now investigating if Huawei violated sanctions by shipping goods and technology to Iran.

Reuters reports via Wall Street Journal that Huawei is under investigation by the Department of Justice for potentially violating US sanctions in relation to Iran. Escalating well beyond our previous report on six major US intelligence agencies warning against the use of Huawei devices and ZTE tech services, the report says that US authorities banned American companies from selling to ZTE Corp for seven years. Companies like Best Buy have already severed ties with Huawei.

The depth of the criminal investigation is unknown and neither the DOJ or Huawei released any statements. The Wall Street Journal report comes from unnamed sources and more information is likely to be revealed in the near future. Keep an eye on Shacknews for additional updates.
