Boxing news: Joseph Parker wants Dillian Whyte rematch after victorious return to ring

Parker came into the fight with Alexander Flores on the back of two consecutive losses against Anthony Joshua and Dillian Whyte

Joseph Parker ruthlessly dispatched Alexander Flores on his return to the boxing ring.

The New Zealander was out to make a statement in Christchurch after two consecutive losses, first to Anthony Joshua in March to surrender his WBO heavyweight title and then by Dillian Whyte at the O2 in July.

And he got his statement win, connecting with a thudding right/left hand combination in the third round to leave his opponent unconscious.

The demolition job was Parker's first stoppage win since he floored Alexander Dimitrenko in three rounds back in October 2016 and improves his record to 25 wins from 27 contests.

"We had two losses this year and this is the fight we wanted to end the year with – a bang. We wanted the knockout and we got it,” Parker said after.

Parker remains intent on sharing the ring with Whyte again and will be a keen observer of his rematch with Derek Chisora on December 22.

"I'll definitely be tuning in to watch," he added. "I would love to be there, but I think we've already got some family plans.

"But I will definitely be watching. The first fight was a total war."

On fighting Whyte, Parker said: "I would love to. Listen, my hand is up for it.

"Hopefully he can take care of business and fight the fights that he wants, and then when he's ready, let's get it on."
