Chelsea transfer news: Blues interested in Alphonse Areola and Neto as Thibaut Courtois nears Real Madrid move

Maurizio Sarri is on the lookout for a new goalkeeper with Belgium international Courtois set to leave Stamford Bridge

Chelsea have identified two targets as they hunt for a new goalkeeper amid the impending departure of Thibaut Courtois to Real Madrid.

Courtois, the Belgium international, is said to be just days away from being confirmed as the Bernabeu club's latest signing of the summer.

Chelsea were interested in signing Alisson from Roma as Courtois' replacement, though the Brazil No.1 has agreed to sign for Liverpool for a fee that will make him the most expensive goalkeeper in the history of the sport.

The Blues have now had to start searching for alternative targets, and the latest reports link Chelsea with two new glovesman.

The first, according to Paris United, is France international Alphonse Areola. The 25-year-old was part Les Bleus' World Cup winning squad this summer, coming off the back of his first season as Paris Saint-Germain's definite No.1.

However, the signing of Gianluigi Buffon on a free transfer appears to have pushed Areola out the first-team picture for the foreseeable future, and it is claimed he will not hesitate to leave Paris if he's relegated to back-up keeper.

Chelsea face competition from Roma and Areola, with the Italian side looking to bring in a new glovesman themselves with Alisson set for Liverpool.

Elsewhere, Tuttomercatoweb link Chelsea with Neto of Valencia. The 28-year-old played for Fiorentina and Juventus before joining the LaLiga side in 2017, and is regarded as a reliable option.

The report does explicitly state the Brazilian is NOT Chelsea's first-choice to come to Stamford Bridge as the club's new No.1, however.
