It's good he was able to keep the peace by the sheer force of his music and his personal charisma.  Had there been riots, the assassin probably never would have gone on to be voice of Darth Vader.

James Brown was hated by everyone he worked with. Was a crackhead and a woman beater.

Also created some amazing music and mentored many well-respected musicians who then influence many more well-respected musicians who are around today.  He also manged to keep the peace in 1 city and probably save some lives by doing so.

1 does not negate the other.

As a person I agree he was a pos, also because of his support for Conservative and GOP causes.

As a musician and composer, he was amazing.

Thank you for saying that.  I wrote some nasty things I had to delete, so thanks for clarifying that for that troll.

Find me a great white man who never sexually harassed or abused a woman, and I will ask you just what kinda flashlight you used, and how the hell did you get into their bedroom?

I want to believe that the majority of people that I respect for various reasons are also decent human beings.  Ryan Reynolds, John Candy, John Legend, for examples.  I never assume that people are bad or good because I don't know them.

However if Tom Hanks is ever proven to be a nasty person in his personal life, I think there will be mass suicides from people giving up on humanity.

Watching video from that '68 James Brown Boston show on Youtube.  When fans rushed the stage, he does a pretty good job getting the police to back off and telling the fans to back to their seats.

And he held that title until 1988, when Horace Grant became a starter for the Bulls and grabbed it away.
