The American Dream. Three words repeated to us ad nauseam from our politicians, our most cherished celebrities, and our loved ones. But what IS the American Dream? What about this concept has become so engrained in our culture that we simply can't escape it?
For people like William J. Clinton, the American dream represents "new businesses, well-paying jobs, and American leadership in new industries" while for others like Whoopi Goldberg the American Dream is the ability to "come from anywhere and be anything you want."
It's hard to sum up a concept so powerful — and one with such a loaded history — fairly. But to me? Well, I believe the American Dream is a bunch of rando people on the internet taking a selfie through a toilet paper tube so they look like the moon.
