Does his patriotism extend past blind loyalty to the flag?
Does he have the same reverence for the constitution as he claims to have for the flag?
Does the size of his flag correlate to his love of America?

Is the flag brought down every night or properly illuminated?

Private property would supersede. Burning your own flag is one thing. Burning someone else's is pretty cut and dry.

I agree with you, but I guess there's got to be an upper limit on flag size.  Otherwise someone is going to fly something that's capable of netting a 747 at 35,000 feet.

It's the HOA by-law types versus the 'Murica types.  Let's just get some popcorn and watch.

I think the giant flags are horribly tacky, especially when they're delegated to advertising tools.

But at the same time, someone has to pay to support local government.  And if you really want to show how patriotic you are, giving the government an extra $50 a day seems a pretty good way to do that.

So fining him, making sure he actually pays the fine, and leaving it at that seems like a good way to go.

Yes, but not a flag someone else paid for.  That's destruction of property.  You want to burn a flag legally, you must buy it of have it donated to your "cause".

Biggest American flag around here flies at the Harley Davidson dealership and it's properly lighted at night.

One good windstorm might drop that very heavy flag on one of his vehicles, perhaps through windows in his showroom or offices.  Maybe just tatter it to shreds.
He can fly all the flags he wants, but he can't create a hazard with them.
He can wrap himself in the flag as long as he likes, it doesn't make him patriotic.
He can cry about the fines, it doesn't mean they're unjust.

/Really tired of phony "patriots" who hide behind symbols while actively undermining ideals.  Self-serving dorks, all.
