    For the past year, Shawn Mendes and Hailey Baldwin have kept us guessing as to whether or not they were dating.

    They even went to the Met Gala together, where they looked every bit the happy couple.

    But the two maintained that they were single, just two months before Justin Bieber romantically announced his engagement to Hailey.

    So of course, people have been wondering what Shawn thinks about his rumoured ex-bae's engagement.

    Shawn's just opened up about it, and it turns out that he's actually very happy for the two of them! He revealed that he texted Hailey the day she got engaged.

    Speaking on The Project, Shawn said: "I texted Hailey the day of and I said: 'Congrats,' and yeah, that's what it is. I think everybody wants there to be more...there's not."

    And he only had good things to say about Justin, who he also revealed was a massive influence on him growing up.
