The decoupling has begun for Japan.

Japan to pay firms to leave China, relocate production elsewhere as part of coronavirus stimulus

Japan to pay firms to leave China, relocate production elsewhere as part of coronavirus stimulus
More than US$2 billion of the country’s record economic stimulus package will be used to help companies move production away from China

The move coincides with what should have been a celebration of friendlier ties between the two countries, before the pandemic struck

Japan has earmarked US$2.2 billion of its record economic stimulus package to help its manufacturers shift production out of China as the coronavirus disrupts supply chains between the major trading partners.
The extra budget, compiled to try to offset the devastating effects of the pandemic, includes 220 billion yen (US$2 billion) for companies shifting production back to Japan and 23.5 billion yen for those seeking to move production to other countries, according to details of the plan posted online.

The move coincides with what should have been a celebration of friendlier ties between the two countries. Chinese President Xi Jinping was supposed to be on a state visit to Japan early this month. But what would have been the first visit of its sort in a decade was postponed a month ago amid the spread of the virus and no new date has been set.

Great move by Japan. Let’s hope it starts a trend.

Innovation would have us 10 years in the future, or more, if we would have kept competing on quality and innovation instead of who is willing to screw workers over the worst. We did it wrong. Quarterly bonuses for finance people were not worth this, and I have been saying that for almost 15 years. I would talk about EXACTLY what was coming involving China in the dry-heat room at the gym like 12 years ago, and it literally all happened.

The robots are coming. Soon there won't be workers to screw

To be fair to finance people and the business consulting group, they were doing exactly what they were supposed to do and they were doing it very well. Maximize profits for the entity and the shareholders.

You have to train them for a different goal if you wanted to them to pursue a different goal.

It'll be a minute.

Future of Manufacturing: The Jobs Are Here, But Where Are The People?

For more than two centuries, the manufacturing industry has adopted new technologies and provided new jobs for workers. Today, the industry is experiencing exciting and exponential change, as technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, and Internet of Things (IoT) are rapidly changing the workplace. While some predicted that these new technologies would eliminate jobs, we have found the reverse—more jobs are actually being created.

The study reveals that the skills gap may leave an estimated 2.4 million positions unfilled between 2018 and 2028, with a potential economic impact of $2.5 trillion. Further, the study shows that the positions relating to digital talent, skilled production, and operational managers may be three times as difficult to fill in the next three years.

This is exactly what all non-Communist nations should do. As of right now, non-Communist nations includes the U.S. Hopefully it stays that way.

This crisis is going to put this into overdrive. It will take time for the skills to catch up but there will never be more motivation to remove humans from the work force than there is right now. China is now considered an evil country by almost everyone, and people are afraid to have other people handle their goods and services.

people would sit in a Dry heat room and listen to you ramble on? Or did you just talk to yourself?

Good. Leaders of the world take note. China will need to suffer economically else they will not change.

Yeah I'm pretty smart and it was pretty obvious to those people, just like it was to all my Professors etc...

Plus what I was saying was just obvious, and everybody else is parroting the same stuff now. You just fail with short, pointless insults at every turn.
