Tattoo Bros - Are solid black rings on forearms stupid and cliche or are they acceptable?

I've always like the simplicity and the look of black rings (combo of thick and thin). But is that really played out? Is it like the old barbwire bicep tattoo from the 90s? Or the tramp stamps and stuff?

Like I said, I really like it and am thinking about it but don't know how this is viewed in the tattoo community in general. I'm sure there are some thoughts on it.

It looks cheap and tacky, like you did it yourself. It takes no artistic ability to make stupid rings and any tattooist worth a shit should boot you out of their shop for even requesting that crap.
