Is it all over already?! No team has EVER come back from 14 points behind to win the Premier League... Manchester City have to make history if they want to beat Liverpool and Leicester to the title

  • Manchester City suffered another setback in the Premier League on Saturday
  • Pep Guardiola's City side were defeated 2-1 by fierce rivals United at the Etihad
  • They now sit 14 points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool after 16 games
  • Liverpool appear to be battling it out with Leicester for Premier League gloryĀ

Manchester City have set new precedents over the last couple of seasons but if they want to repeat their title heroics this time out, they will have to rewrite the history books.Ā

Pep Guardiola's reigning Premier League champions stumbled yet again on the weekend - going down 2-1 at home to fierce rivals Manchester United - as they go in search of their third consecutive title.

The defeat has now left them a frightening 14 points behind pace-setters Liverpool after just 16 matches and Jurgen Klopp's side are showing no signs of letting up.

And City will have to achieve something no team has ever done before in Premier League history - come back from 14-point deficit to win the title.Ā

Guardiola's side have been uncharacteristically fragile this season - especially in defence - already losing four times and drawing twice while conceding 19 goals.Ā

They have been down in the dumps before but perhaps this is one step too far.Ā

Last season, Liverpool raced out of the traps and were 10 points clear of City after 20 games before they faltered when it mattered most. But one imagines the Reds will have too much this term.

Leicester are currently the only team who look set to battle it out for glory with Klopp's high-flying Liverpool.Ā

Brendan Rodgers, who just signed a new five-and-a-half year deal with the club, has got Leicester dreaming of a second Premier League title and Champions League football.

The Foxes, who boast the best defensive record in the league, currently sit eight points behind Liverpool following their emphatic 4-1 victory away at Aston Villa on Sunday afternoon.Ā

Leicester face a crunch couple of fixtures over the festive period, taking on City at the Etihad on December 21 before hosting league leaders Liverpool on Boxing Day.

If they come out unscathed against City and Liverpool, then we could have a hugely exciting Premier League title race on our hands.
