Everton 'have been in touch with Unai Emery' as they search for a new boss but sacked Arsenal manager wants more time to decide his next move

Everton approached sacked Arsenal boss Unai Emery about an instant return to the Premier League at Goodison Park, according to reports.

Both clubs are currently managerless, having sacked Marco Silva and Emery respectively, and the search goes on for a permanent replacement at both.

Everton have Duncan Ferguson - who masterminded a huge victory against Chelsea on Saturday - in temporary charge, but Sky Sports report that they approached Emery about taking over following his sacking at Arsenal.

It has been reported that the Spaniard is keen to carry on improving his English and sees England - as well as Spain and Italy - as potential destinations for his next role.


Sky report that an informal meeting was held in London, but Emery now wants more time to think about his next move having only just parted company with Arsenal.

Mauricio Pochettino is another name that has been floated for both vacancies, but it is understood that he has already turned Everton down. 

Vitor Pereira - currently in charge of Shanghai SIPG - is the frontrunner for the Goodison Park job at the moment, and he tops a four-man shortlist drawn up by the club's hierarchy.
