in the famous district of saint germain des près, paris, atelier pierre-louis gerlier has transformed a small old apartment into a comfortable cocoon. designed for a family who lives mainly in the countryside, and has requested for a hotel room-like space with simple and pure decoration, the flat has been refurbished completely to form a fresh pied-à-terre, while still maintaining its original charm.

before the intervention by atelier pierre-louis gerlier, the apartment interior appeared quite old and dark. the renovation aimed to generate a spacious living environment with sufficient illumination. all the water rooms (kitchen, shower room, WC) were integrated behind a curved screen that creates a diagonal perspective to increase the impression of space. the floor is covered in light beige waxed concrete in order to unify the whole interior and to reflect the light. the living room is painted in light green, while in the toilet and the bathroom, dark green waxed concrete covers the walls to provide a more intimate atmosphere.
