PS5 pre-order customers may not get the console at launch, says Amazon

Those who pre-ordered PS5 through Amazon may not get their consoles on launch day.

According to an email sent to Amazon customers, those who pre-ordered PS5 may not receive their consoles at launch.

The email states the issue stems from high demand.

"We’re contacting you about your order of PlayStation 5 to let you know in advance that you may not receive this item on the day it is released due to high demand,” reads the email via The Verge.

“We’ll make every effort to get the item to you as soon as possible once released.”

Pre-orders for the console are now live and reserved stock seems to have sold out at multiple retailers. This even seems to be the case for those who reserved a PS5 through the invite-only PSN pre-order.

A recent report suggests Sony has booked 60 Delta planes to facilitate faster shipping of its console. Plus, Sony said there will be more stock of the console at launch then there were for PS4 during the same window. So hopefully retailers will know how many consoles they can pre-sell again.
