"Devoted to exploring great films." Since 2016, film professionals Steve Morris and John Rocha have perused a couple hundred beloved movies. Near the show's beginning, fans asked for more depth and more detail. So they honed the show into a longer format and revisited movies from early episodes, such as Die Hard, Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, and Planes, Trains and Automobiles. Their back catalogue contains deep-dives into Raiders of the Lost Ark, Ratatouille, Rear Window, Remains of the Day, Reservoir Dogs, Return of the Jedi, The Right Stuff, Robocop, Rocky, Rocky IV, Rushmore, and that's just the Rs. The last couple months have been focused on Spike Lee, with detailed examinations of Do the Right Thing and Malcolm X. (They've similarly discussed directors Hitchcock, Coppola, and Kurosawa.) Their latest episode is a first part on Soderbergh's Oceans 11.

I thought, 'I'll just have a look at Rear Window to get a taste of this.' Two hours of video! You weren't kidding about more depth and more detail. Off to explore . . .

Maybe this is snobbish of me but it's a little disappointing how mainstream all of their movie choices are. From what I can tell the only non-English language movies they've covered are 2 Jackie Chans (Police Story, Drunken Master), 3 Kurosawas (Sanjuro, Yojimbo, and the Seven Samurai), and Godard's Breathless. Not much in the way of domestic indie either. I love a lot of the movies they do talk about but they're movies I feel like get talked enough about already.

On the other hand, this speaks well to their entertainment value as hosts so hey maybe that's the secret ingredient here. I'd just rather hear about someone's unique appreciation for something that tells me about them and who they are as person than hear someone sing the praises of AFI's Top 100.

I was similarly disappointed that the film choices all seem pretty obvious.

Rocha was someone I followed diligently until he started spouting off rhetoric about how SJWs ruin things and going with his whole outlaw persona. I like a lot of his insight, but I have to hold my nose when he moves out of the realm of cinema and into current events.

Two hours of video!

I clicked on the Right Stuff link and on YouTube it was just a place card for the movie so I found them on my podcast app which plays even when I open up another window in my browser. So are y’all seeing video clips?

TWinbrook8, this show does indeed look to be a standard, audio-only, podcast. No video. It appears to be available at most places where you can get podcasts.

It does seem to be a little odd to do an audio-only show about an intrinsically visual medium, especially a 2-hour-long show.

In their defense, it's a magnitude higher amount of work to find and edit clips of films and then make sure that they don't violate YouTube's intellectual property filters.
