The old "sh*t yourself and sleep in your own urine for money" challenge.  But with a twist.

David Blaine has this one in the bag.

Naw, dawg...

Six competitors can take part and will be able to leave their chamber for six minutes every hour to use the restroom

So 1 break to take a crap, 3 breaks to wizz, and you can use the other 26 to masturbate. Then you go to sleep in the coffin. No prob.

Probably why the prize money is so low...

Yeah, but it'll be a raise for them compared to standing in line for 12 hours before Black Friday to save $100 on a TV they don't need.

A union gig would pay more than $11/hour.

Won't even need the batteries. Coffins will have a charging station built in for ya.

Really, what's the challenge again? Breaks every hour, get to have a friend stick around (during operating hours), bring your own comforts from home that'll fit the box. If it was anywhere near where I am, I'd be tempted to say hell with it and apply. Probably a better $12/hr for two days than my job anyway.

Well the sleep depravation, with their workers constantly harassing you during the night. Plus some people don't do well in a box for 30 hours.

It could be $0 an hr. There's only a chance you get paid.

They bring you food too, I think the only 'challenge' is leaving the coffin, using the restroom, and then coming back in a span of just 6 minutes.

Or...I could put in a few hours of overtime and just buy the passes.

Or I could go donate plasma a few times and buy the passes, and get caught up on some reading while I I'm sitting there.

Or, I could simply buy a single day pass for a lot less after realizing that I'd probably only go once anyway.

The challenge is that 5 out of 6 people will be doing it for free.

I'd be tempted.  The money would be kinda nice.  I don't live in St. Louis, so I'd probably give away or scalp the season passes.  And the article says that you can take home the box afterwards.

So from my perspective:  Spend 30 hours in a space only slightly smaller than my couch, watching YouTube videos and checking FB, not moving much and sleeping soundly, for $300 and a free coffee table for my lounge/study.

Very tempting.  Couldn't spend the time away from my dogs, though.

And, like the lottery, if you do win you likely have to declare that $300 bucks as income come April 15th.

It's not clear they're going to close the coffins from the article. You can even have a friend keep you company during business hours.

In other words, it's not any different from any other endurance contest.

Way more interesting ones:

Downright cushy compared to the summer I spent hauling trash and cleaning toilets. Everyone should spend a term cleaning public toilets, it'll give you a reference point for "at least I'm not".

Tom Hanks is the mastermind of this promotion. Little do the participants know, that as soon as they're in the box, Tom is going to run up, lock them, and then bury them. He says it's going to be hilarious.

Stupid promotional stunt that sounds more challenging than it is when you look at all the perks and conditions it operates under.  A break every hour for 6 minutes, bah, give it to them every 4 hours.  Charging station for their cellphone and a friend to keep you company, hell no, you get nothing but your own thoughts in the dark box.  Food given to you, hell no, you can keep your pie hole for 30 hours.  If you want something to drink during the contest, better use that 6 minute break period to take care of it.

Contests are supposed to be challenging and difficulty to complete.  The rules should help create the challenge so few if any finish the task.  It is hard to see a scenario where a majority of contestants couldn't make it with the present rules.
