Cat-Scan.com is one of the strangest sites I've seen in some time. I have no idea how these people got their cats wedged into their scanners, or why.

It's possible that I still hold the record for the most-flagged comment ever (which I don't remember what it is and please don't remind me) that I think happened on the weekend when the MetaFilter cadre went to XOXO and were out of cell range for rather a long time.

Egg Slut
Ingredients:

Add about half the required amount of water to the instant potatoes, stir well.
Squish the insufficiently wet potatoes over to one side, making a well.
Crack egg into potato well.
Gently cover with water, up to inner rim of the cup.
Microwave on Hi for about 99 seconds.
Gently stir remaining water into potatoes, taking care to break the soft yolk and mix the albumen into the hot potatoes.
Toast crust.
Spoon egg slut onto toast and maw it.

In spite of my slowly deteriorating heart condition (I've already outlived my first cardiologist's prognosis), I'm expecting to be here for the 20th and 21st. Beyond that is gravy/frosting, but I'd love to see MetaFilter make it to 40.

Oh, glob, I've been mostly lurking for most of these 19 years. I've been working online for the past 9 years, which means engaging in online conversations in my off time feels a bit too much like work so I don't contribute much, but I dearly appreciate this community, and read much of what's posted. And I wouldn't have known of it if not for LJ's friend of a friend feature and stumbling on the LJ RSS feed someone set up (to this day I still don't know). I don't think I ever put together before that Metafilter shares a birthday with my best friend. But she died this past year, so everything reminds me of her.
