Tiffany Haddish is taking over the world. The comedian, the best thing about the great movie Girls Trip who became a full-on Oscar hopeful in her own right, is popping up everywhere. Paul Thomas Anderson wants to work with her. She's the lead in the new sitcom The Last OG. And now she's going to star in the follow-up to the legitimately great The Lego Movie. Get pumped.

The Lego Movie came out in 2014, and if you didn't know already, it's an absolute triumph. Warm, hilarious, and one of the best subversions of the "hero's journey" blueprint, period. Alongside Haddish, lead voice actor from the first movie Chris Pratt is expected to return, though Haddish's casting is the first major piece of verifiable news we've heard from the movie in a long time.

Expect more details about the Lego Movie sequel, and Tiffany Haddish's role in said sequel, to crop up pretty soon. Production is well under way, and it's due out in less than a year, on February 8, 2019.
