But Max also has over a decade of top level training, sparring, and coaching. His base is set, he knows what he needs to do, and what to work on.
A new guy needs ALL the sparring early on from as many different guys as possible. Get smashed, learn, get experience, grow, get frustrated, work on developing your own game, get humbled more, etc. This applies to every facet of MMA (grappling and striking).
If you aren’t sparring / rolling hard then you won’t be effective. Only true masters of MMA can get away with no LONGER sparring, and that’s because they already did that foundational work. It’s mind / body preservation for them as professional fighters at a certain point.

Don’t have time for collective classes? Then MMA is not for you.
You will learn FAR more MUCH faster from actually going to group classes and drilling / sparring with bunches of different people / body types / skill sets / levels of experience, than you EVER will from doing privates with no sparring.
There is literally ZERO sports you could ever even begin to think you were proficient at if you never actually apply those skills in an actual “in game” scenario.
You’d never consider yourself a basketball player if all you ever did was shooting / dribbling drills, and never ran the court in a 5 on 5.
You’d never consider yourself a golfer if all you did was hit balls on the range and chipping / putting greens.
If you want a glorified personal trainer that you fork over money to, while never being proficient / see results, then by all means proceed with your original plan.
