@JamesRussler made an interesting point in the Harriet vs. Andrew thread:

I mean, I understand why people want a black face on our currency, but it’s just an unfortunate truth that black people weren’t making important decisions back then.

Not picking on James here, but it did get me thinking that people might have different opinions about why people should find their faces on the currency.

So you are king for a day; you call up the mint and tell them “I want to change the currency!” Who do you choose for:

$0.25: ???
$1: ???
$5: ???
$10: ???
$20: ???
$100: ???

and why did you choose them? What’s your lighthouse; what is your compass pointing at, here?

Mine:

$0.25: FDR - led us through two of the worst situations the country has been faced with.

$1: Washington - leader of the revolution and our first president- the one who set the original precedents.

$5 - I’m going to stretch this far and say John Paul Jones. I feel like he deserves more credit than he gets. All of Sherdog should appreciate such a magnificent war hero and troll.

$10 - Martin Luther King Jr. - I know people will bring up his wrong doings but his impact on our culture and the civil rights movement cannot be overlooked. A mainstream choice, but for a reason.

$20 - Lincoln. The work he did changed the course of the nation forever, similar to Washington, FDR and heck - now I’m going long - JPJ.

$100 - Kennedy - He didn’t have a lot of time to accomplish much, but he managed to set a tremendous goal for the nation to reach - and in life and death inspired them to accomplish the seemingly impossible with less time than practical.

Print various faces on 1, 5, 10 can’t coins. Rotate them, paying tribute to various figures is American history.

Inb4 all the Trump or Obama family on everything.

I like the MLK idea. I'd have Washington, Lincoln of course. I'm not a huge fan of FDR, but he was a great statesman who deserves respect, so he makes a lot of sense as well. I think Madison deserves some coinage at least. You're going to need to work to sell JPJ.

But I’d like Eisenhower on the ten dollar bill.

I’d change the five dollar bill to teddy roosevelt.

I’d change the dime to general Patton.

Change either the nickel or two dollar bill to Audie Murphy.

The rest can stay the same

$100 - hulk hogan
$50 - ric flair
$20 - chris tucker as smokey
$10, $5 - some president or other

over here i would genuinely like to see david attenborough on the £50 note

Id leave them as is for the most part. Would probably take off Andy Jackson, Ulysses S. Grant, and William McKinley. Would get rid of McKinley (who?), Jackson(arguably committed genocide against native Americans), and Grant (not important enough in context to the rest) and replace with FDR (only real progressive president we've ever had, implemented great policies like New Deal) and MLK (civil rights, obvi). Would probably promote TJ off the 2$ (maybe replace him with Madison or John Adams). My identity politics liberal comrades probably won't like it cuz I ain't got no black women or women at all, but sorry I don't think anyone else should be removed.

$0.25: Dylon
$1: Dylon
$5: Dylon
$10: Dylon
$20: Dylon
$100: Steve Young

Probably would just put Teddy on the $100 carrying a big ass stick, maybe Nathaniel Green on the $50 and Audie Murphy on the $20

Trump of course on the $100,000 bill (which actually existed)

That's a lot of different people, some good suggestions but if it's me and I'm talking C-Note pic, it's BJ McKay all day:

I maintain that it should be people who played the most important roles in shaping our country's history. I know that might seem subjective, but some people were just more impactful. I try to evaluate historical figures by looking at the causal chain that led to their accomplishments. Did they actually "cause" things to happen, or were they merely present? Personally, I think we should keep it how it is forever. There is no way to have this be a healthy debate in 2019.

But if we want to go for diversity, we could just put dead famous people for each race. Here's my list:

$0.01: Tupac
$0.10: Ricky Ricardo
$0.25: Michael Jackson
$1: Marilyn Monroe
$5: Freddy Mercury
$10: Bruce Lee
$20: Elvis
$100: Jesus

I wouldn't add anyone's face. It's unnecessary and just one more stupid fucking thing to argue over.
