Dave Meltzer on former UFC HW Champion Brock Lesnar: Knocking his MMA career is pretty shallow.

Do you look at Brock Lesnar's MMA career in high regard?

MMA Fighting / Wrestling Observer Newsletter's Dave Meltzer defended former UFC Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar and said that anyone, "knocking his MMA career is pretty shallow." I think that a lot of MMA fans are divided on Brock Lesnar. What are your thoughts on this?

carwin did not have 12 first round ko's. 7 ko's and 5 subs if i recall. the 12 ko thing was just for the promo for the fight

meltzer doesnt know that much

And yet he has 2 defenses which was the record before Stipe, it says more about the quality of fighters we had over the years in HW MMA.

Dave Meltzer arguing with random keyboard warrior neck beard gotta love it.

Brock had very successful UFC career anyone saying otherwise is a straight hater.

The individuals on his list of wins are all quite beatable by other top heavyweights and he was beaten to a pulp by guys legitimately nearer the upper echelons of the division... he will rightly NOT be remembered as a 'great' heavyweight but you really can't knock someone that came to the sport so late in life and with comparatively little training, who still managed to finish 3 credible opponents in title fights. His size, his strength and his base wrestling ability were a challenge for any fighter that wasn't properly prepared

Meltzer really needs to stick to his fake sport men in tights and keep the hell out of MMA

He gets into it with Twitter trolls all the time
So stupid to bother, but he does
its a tough follow

Meltzer has some points, but you gotta hand it to Brock, he did a lot better than he should have...

No, I'm not at all convinced.

Lesnar had probably 40 lbs on Randy and STILL looked weak and got bloodied up (IIRC) until he clipped him with a meat paw.

Mir was a good win but it's Mir.

Carwin probably should have gotten a TKO win. Crumpled against Cain and Reem. Roided up and decisioned meat cube Mark Hunt.

Lesnar doesn't look or move like a fighter and his offense is strange and he hates getting punched.

If he were smaller we'd call him CM Punk?

Rightly, recognizing Brock's greatness. He beat three Champions and defended his title without knowing much about MMA. Critics say Heavyweight was a joke at that time, but Mir, Couture, and Carwin were all legit Champions.
Grade A athlete, beyond dispute.
Great UFC Heavyweight champion.
Changed the $$$ map for the UFC. Still the top or second best PPV draw to the present and all time.
Would love him to do the George Forman v Moorer deal with DC
That would be epic.
In or out of the Octogon, a great man.
How quickly the youth living in mommy's basement forget, actually, they never took the time to learn about recent history in the first place.

Brock won the Heavyweight belt with like a year of training, beat legit number one contenders in Mir and Carwin, and dominated top 10 heavy Mark Hunt after nearly 6 years away from the sport on like a one month crash training camp. I'd say he did pretty fucking good fom himself, all things considered.

In UFC he did
im aware of that - just pointing out that a lot of people say/think that carwin had 12 ko stoppages, he did not. he had a few RNC's and guillotine choke wins.

and that fight should have been stopped, but thats another debate
