Colby Covington has beaten 3 opponents in the past 4 years; Masvidal, Woodley & Lawler.

Masvidal had lost his prior 2 fights leading up to fighting Colby in 2022.
Woodley had lost his prior 2 fights leading up to fighting Colby in 2020.
Lawler had lost his prior 2 fights leading up to fighting Colby in 2019.

I know the UFC is a business, and a Colby fight would sell. But Come Onnnnnn

I think everyone with a brain understands Colby should have another fight before a shot at the title. Colby should fight Chimaev.

I'm guessing this title shot would've gone to Chimaev if he didn't have his weight debacle.

Jorge is in worse position than Colby to be in title contention currently based on records. Only thing he has going is a backstory.

Belal is really the only one you can say deserves it and they have NC against each other. Book BELAL and be done with it. Seems so obvious that it makes you wonder if something behind the scenes is going on(ie: contract dispute).

I'm not trying to hate on him. I kinda like him. It's just annoying that the UFC leaves guys high in the rankings, based on wins and accomplishments they had years ago. Colby hasn't even beaten a single person in the top 10 right now.

There should be some sort of limit to how far the UFC can clown around with this shit.

We have to look into his losses aswell. He was winning in the first fight against Usman till he got finished 4 min into the 5th round. Some say the second fight should've been a draw. He gave a good account of himself against the 2nd greatest MMA welterweight. Its more the Head2Head ability of Colby that kinda gave him the title shot. And ofcourse his trash talk aswell. But I do admit his resume is a bit thin for a title contender.

But watching Leon beat that ass will be one hell of a consolation prize. :)

Dana said Colby is next.
Leon said he is the king and he'll decide who he fights next.
My money is on Leon vs Colby for the next fight. Leon will learn Dana is the king and he is the temporary prince.

Yeah I'm always skeptical of any fighter who's claim to fame is a "good" loss.

Here's what's real: Colby has ZERO wins over any legitimate WW contender in their prime in the last 4 years. His last one was against RDA in 2018 where he won the interim belt.

Instead we got Belal who beat Luque, Brady, Wonderboy and Maia in a row having to fight again.

Luque was knocking on the door for a title shot and that still wasn't enough for Belal to have one??

I do believe Colby presents the worst style matchup for Edwards as his wrestling shown in the Mas fight is far more technical and efficent than Usman's but Colby doesn't deserve it. The Colby vs Khamzat fight would've been perfect. Even as somebody who dislikes Khamzat I'd like to see him try WW again.

You raise some good points but forget about Khamzat at 170. It’s just not happening anymore. Been confirmed by about four different sources including his manager, trainer and the UFC itself.

I think the difference between Colby and Usman's wrestling is that Colby is much more adept at what they call "mat returns" and he puts other fighters in the trap of constantly defending his wrestling until they tire out (and he doesn't). Usman cannot chain wrestle at the pace Colby can.

I'm pretty sure everyone understands why he shouldn't and why he is getting pushed.

He's been playing Dana like a fiddle, and Dana is gladly accepting the fingering.

Or maybe the fans are the fiddle taking the fingering here, with Colby and Dana are playing a duet.

I dunno. I know I want to work someone getting fingering into this metaphor, but I'm having trouble ... finishing ;)
