Michael Page claims Dan Miragliotta apologized for Bellator Dublin incident

Michael “Venom” Page has buried the hatchet with Dan Miragliotta following his declaration that the established referee would not be able to oversee his future outings on the back of an incident at Bellator Dublin.

Speaking after his one-sided victory over Richard Kiely at Bellator Dublin in early October, Page claimed that Miragliotta called him a “piece of sh*t” during the bout. After “Venom” insisted that he would no longer be able to referee his fights, Miragliotta underlined his intention to honor the stipulation in an interview with MMA Fighting.

Despite the ultimatum made last month, Page now claims that his beef with the American referee has been “squashed.”

“I was in New York the other day and I spoke to Dan,” Page told MMA Fighting’s Eurobash podcast.

“He came up to me and he apologized for…just the whole thing. We had a nice discussion so for me, that episode is now past; it’s old news now. That’s all I said I wanted, I wanted to have a face to face with him. All respect to him, he came up to me and we’ve squashed that. It’s just a thing of the past now.”

Page refused to go into detail about the conversation he had with Miragliotta, but is adamant that he is ready to “move on” from what transpired in Dublin early last month.

“For me now, it’s a full stop on the situation. I don’t care to go over specifics. That would probably keep us on bad terms because we’d probably end up disagreeing on something. I appreciate the fact that he came over and apologized for any bad blood and me feeling negative about him in any way. I just accepted that for what it is. We shook hands and we’ll move on from there.”

As for the backlash he received for his showboating en route to his dispatch of Kiely, Page insisted that it didn’t bother him in the slightest.

“People’s responses are very unpredictable, it’s like the English weather. A lot of times it’s just a stupid mentality from a couple of people – they say one thing and everyone just jumps on the bandwagon. It doesn’t bother me at all.”
