Jasmine Jasudavicius: ‘I’m Very Fortunate to Go through Contender Series’
On Saturday, Jasmine Jasudavicius will make her Ultimate Fighting Championship debut as he faces Kay Hansen on the UFC 270 preliminary card. Jasudavicius (6-1, 0-0 UFC) earned her UFC contract after outpointing Julia Polastri on Dana White's Contender Series. That experience helped Jasudavicius overcome her jitters for the promotional debut, as the Canadian has already tasted what it feels like to be in the spotlight before a UFC event. Now, she feels like she already knows how to deal with the pressure from media and fans.
“It was a great experience, I’m so happy that I had to go through Contender Series before my UFC debut,” Jasudavicius told Sherdog. “I feel like that was almost my UFC debut. Going there, staying at the UFC hotel, kind of like seeing how they run the show and, you know, all the media in the back. For the first time, not that it gets to you, but you notice it. Now, moving forward into my real debut, I feel like that’s behind me, it’s like, ‘Oh yeah, I’ve been there, done that.’ It won’t jar me at all. I think I’m very fortunate to be able to go through Contender Series. It’s almost like that was my debut, and this first fight is just another fight in the UFC like many more to come.”
Jasudavicius stated that she doesn’t know why the UFC moved her clash with Hansen from its initially scheduled place at UFC on ESPN 32 to UFC 270. The Niagara Top Team representative also picked her winners for the upcoming card’s headliner and co-main event.
