Jessica Aguilar vs. Jodie Esquibel

Round 1

Aguilar takes the center of the cage and sticks a few jabs in the face of Esquibel, but when the former Bellator champion tries to clinch, Esquibel pops her with a short right hook. Aguilar clings on to a single-leg, nearly takes down Esquibel, switches to a high double and finally completes the takedown, now two minutes into the fight. Esquibel posts and stands, now spins to take the outside position as the 115ers clinch on the fence. Referee Herb Dean calls for action and issues a pair of warnings to Aguilar for grabbing Esquibel's hair as the tries to get a Thai clinch. Moving back to the center, Aguilar resumes her jabbing, now hits Esquibel with a clinch knee. Aguilar finishes strong with a one-two, then a right hook before backpedaling out of the way of Esquibel's frantic final combo.

Sherdog Scores

Mike Fridley scores the round 10-9 Aguilar
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Aguilar
Mike Sloan scores the round 10-9 Aguilar

Round 2

The strawweights resume their range-striking in the second round, with Aguilar working from the center and Esquibel boxing her around the outside. Esquibel's offensive output is much increased here in the second stanza, seemingly throwing four or five punches for every one or two from "JAG." Esquibel is landing at a higher clip, finding her range better than in the first frame. Aguilar tries to counter with single shots, jabs and knees, while the boxer's attacks come in bunches, combinations peppering Aguilar as they spend virtually the entire round in a kickboxing match. Esquibel finishes strong, chasing down Aguilar with another combination.

Sherdog Scores

Mike Fridley scores the round 10-9 Esquibel
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Esquibel
Mike Sloan scores the round 10-9 Aguilar

Round 3

Esquibel continues to move around the edge of the cage, keeping her hands in Aguilar's face. Aguilar follows from the center, but she's having trouble closing the distance and putting her slower punches on the Keith Jardine pupil. Halfway through the round, Aguilar clinches up and shoves Esquibel against the fence, but Esquibel soon reverses to the outside position. Aguilar escapes to the center, slips a combo from Esquibel and catches her leaning to land a knee. One minute remains in a round and a fight which could still be up for grabs. Esquibel gets sloppy as she charges inside and eats another knee for her trouble. Aguilar fends off a brief takedown attempt, then catches one of Esquibel's legs and puts her on the fence. Esquibel gets her last offense in the form of a pair of right hands, while Aguilar finishes with a body kick.

Sherdog Scores

Mike Fridley scores the round 10-9 Aguilar (29-28 Aguilar)
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Aguilar (29-28 Aguilar)

Mark De La Rosa vs. Elias Garcia

Round 1

Garcia fires off a kick in the opening seconds and gets cleared out of the pocket by a De La Rosa left hand. The ensuing minute is slow-going, with Garcia moving around the outside and De La Rosa pressing out from the center. Garcia lands a body kick, but it's caught by De La Rosa, who wants to turn it into a takedown. Garcia counters with a sharp knee to the body, then jumps guard and tries to lock up a flying triangle choke. De La Rosa twirls around and sends the southpaw hurtling to the floor, but Garcia jumps back to his feet before "Bumblebee" can capitalize. De La Rosa blitzes Garcia with a combination to put himself in range, then shoves the Roufusport fighter against the wall with double underhooks. With 1:40 on the clock, De La Rosa completes the first takedown of the bout, setting up in Garcia's closed guard. Garcia eats a couple hard elbow strikes, tries to catch De La Rosa in an armbar but loses the submission attempt as both flyweights scramble back to their feet. De La Rosa lands a body kick and an uppercut in the closing moments of the round.

Sherdog Scores

Mike Fridley scores the round 10-9 De La Rosa
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 De La Rosa
Mike Sloan scores the round 10-9 De La Rosa

Round 2

De La Rosa resumes his forward pressure from the opening round, staying in Garcia's face as the second stanza begins. After rushing Garcia against the fence with a flurry, De La Rosa gets a body lock, then turns the corner to take Garcia's back standing. Garcia willingly takes a knee, and from there it's no task for De La Rosa to secure back-mount. De La Rosa gets one hook, two hooks, wraps his right arm around Garcia's throat and stretches him out with the rear-naked choke locked on tight. Garcia has nothing to offer in return and taps out to the RNC in a hurry.

The Official Result

Mark De La Rosa def. Elias Garcia via Submission (Rear-Naked Choke) R2 2:00

Liz Carmouche vs. Jennifer Maia

Round 1

Carmouche keeps Maia on the end of her punches with a few solid right hands in the opening minute. "Girl-rilla" runs inside to tie up and takes down Maia after the Brazilian tries to throw a knee in close quarters. Carmouche lands in side control on Maia's left, leaning across to elbow her ear. Maia rolls to her knees, then climbs back to her feet, escaping a brief Carmouche headlock in the process. Now, two minutes in, it's Maia taking a turn in a dominant position, holding Carmouche on the wall with double unders. Without much happening in the clinch, referee Tom Supnet calls for work. The ref splits up the flyweights with 1:45 on the clock, and now it's Maia starting to find her range, landing a right hand over the top. Carmouche rips back with a pair of hooks, then slides back as Maia swings wild punches in her direction. Carmouche flips to southpaw, eats a right hand and switches back to orthodox.

Sherdog Scores

Mike Fridley scores the round 10-9 Maia
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Carmouche
Mike Sloan scores the round 10-9 Carmouche

Round 2

Maia bounces around in front of Carmouche, swinging the occasional right hand, while the American waits and looks to counter. Neither fighter is very effective with their offense in the opening minute of the round. Maia bursts forward and catches Carmouche with a clean right hand on the end of a combination. Another swarm puts Maia in clinching range, so she uses double underhooks to trap Carmouche on the fence before driving a few knees into her midsection. Carmouche peppers Maia with short right hands as she struggles to free herself from the clinch. Referee Supnet breaks up the fighters with 80 seconds left in the round. Carmouche hits a powerful outside trip takedown, lands in side control on Maia's left and drives a few knee strikes into the Brazilian's ribs. Carmouche steps over to full mount with 15 seconds left, postures up and tries to pound out Maia. Carmouche goes for a last-second armbar just before the horn.

Sherdog Scores

Mike Fridley scores the round 10-9 Carmouche
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Carmouche
Mike Sloan scores the round 10-9 Carmouche

Round 3

Momentarily distracted by a problem with her top, Maia loses focus and is quickly driven to the ground in the center of the cage. Carmouche sets up in the Brazilian's guard this time, but when Maia tries to throw up an armbar, "Girl-rilla" moves to side control in a flash. Just as quick, Carmouche steps over to full mount, and Maia tries to roll over almost immediately. Maia gets trapped on her side, but she's able to catch one of Carmouche's legs and roll onto her back again, now with the American held in a deep half-guard. Maia tries to shrimp inside and gets elbowed in the side of the head. Maia pivots underneath, putting Carmouche back in full guard, but with 70 seconds left, time may be running out on the Brazilian's hopes for victory. The flyweights get back on their feet with 45 seconds remaining. Maia tries to get aggressive, but Carmouche is on her back foot, and this one will be decided by the judges.

Raoni Barcelos vs. Kurt Holobaugh

Round 1

Holobaugh lands an early leg kick, but it's Barcelos exploding inside to pop the American with a speedy right hand. Holobaugh grabs Barcelos in the Thai clinch to deliver a knee, then goes back to leg-kicking as the featherweights circle in the second minute. Barcelos steps inside and thumps Holobaugh with an uppercut before dipping out of range. Barcelos looks to be the speedier fighter but Holobaugh is using good head movement to slip his punches and counter effectively. Barcelos fakes a shot and comes back up to sting Holobaugh with another uppercut. Halfway through the middle of a busy round, it's Holobaugh keeping up the busier pace, while Barcelos lands sporadic but heavy punches. Barcelos completes a quick takedown as they hit the final 60 seconds; Holobaugh is back up quickly but gets blasted by a Barcelos right hand on his way out. Barcelos sprawls on a shot and puts Holobaugh in deep trouble with a tight guillotine, but the American is able to hold out for the final 10 seconds.

Sherdog Scores

Mike Fridley scores the round 10-9 Barcelos
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Barcelos
Mike Sloan scores the round 10-9 Barcelos

Round 2

Barcelos opens the second round with a looping left hook, then catches an incoming Holobaugh with a straight counter. Holobaugh jabs his way inside, then lands a right to the body. The featherweights are standing toe-to-toe in the middle and throwing heavy shots, with both men landing and neither man budging. Barcelos opts to switch things up with a takedown, but the longer Holobaugh is threatening with a triangle as soon as they hit the mat. Barcelos stands to adjust and then comes back down in Holobaugh's half guard. Holobaugh works his way up against the wall, and they're back on their feet with half the round remaining. Barcelos stings Holobaugh with a punch between the eyes, then hits a lovely trip takedown in the center of the cage. Barcelos stands with 60 seconds left, allowing Holobaugh to get back on his feet. Barcelos tries a spinning kick and gets caught on the turn-around, with Holobaugh jumping on his back to sink in a hook. Barcelos' left side is flush to the fence, blocking Holobaugh's second hook, and keeping Barcelos out of trouble until the end of the round.

Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Barcelos
Mike Sloan scores the round 10-9 Barcelos

Round 3

Barcelos comes over the top with a good right hand, gets jabbed backward by Holobaugh, then swings back with a heavy combination when the Louisianan gets caught sleeping. Holobaugh continues to jab his way forward laziily, and Barcelos makes him pay with a blistering left hand. A right hook stings the backpedaling Holobaugh, then another right connects before an uppercut finally knocks Holobaugh senseless. Holobaugh crashes to the canvas as referee Herb Dean rushes in to stop the fight, and Barcelos walks off with a highlight-reel knockout in his UFC debut.

The Official Result

Raoni Barcelos def. Kurt Holobaugh via KO (Punches) R3 1:29

Said Nurmagomedov vs. Justin Scoggins

Round 1

Scoggins switches stances relentlessly in the opening minute, bouncing on his toes and kicking to keep the more boxing-minded Nurmagomedov at bay. Nurmagomedov stomps forward with an oblique kick, gets out of the way as Scoggins whirls around with a kick. Nurmagomedov connects with a knee, but when he tries a spinning elbow, Scoggins catches him with a counter on the turn-around and drops him to one knee. Back up comes the Russian, continuing to stalk Scoggins around the cage as they hit the halfway point of round one. Nurmagomedov shoots but only manages to run Scoggins against the fence. "Tank" pulls himself and Nurmagomedov back to the center, where the flyweights disengage. Scoggins throws a spinning kick and gets run against the fence, where Nurmagomedov winds up with a single-leg which Scoggins is able to escape. Scoggins gets the last action of the round, slipping a counter to pop Nurmagomedov with a short counter in the last 20 seconds.

Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Scoggins
Mike Sloan scores the round 10-9 Scoggins

Round 2

Scoggins comes over the top with a left hand that knocks Nurmagomedov backward a step in the opening moments of round two. Nurmagomedov dives for a takedown, gets caught on his knees and nearly has his back taken, but Scoggins opts to stand and continue striking. Nurmagomedov takes a partially blocked left high kick to the temple. Nurmagomedov gets caught rushing inside and dropped with a left-handed counter. Scoggins doesn't pounce, circling away and allowing Nurmagomedov back to his feet. Nurmagomedov shoots for a takedown, but again Scoggins limp-legs out with ease. Nurmagomedov walks inside to throw a combo, but Scoggins slips each punch and delivers another hard left on his way out of the pocket. The speed of Scoggins is proving too much for Nurmagomedov, who is left swinging at air each time he tries to throw a combination. The Russian shoots on Scoggins' hips, gets double-underhooked and denied on yet another takedown attempt. Nurmagomedov finishes the round with a leg kick, then a glancing blow to the body of a backpedaling Scoggins.

Round 3

After more than a dozen failed tries, Nurmagomedov finally finds success with his first takedown attempt of round three. Scoggins shifts underneath, trying to elevate the larger man, but Nurmagomedov remains heavy on top. The flyweights move from the center over to the base of the fence, where Scoggins tries to wrap up Nurmagomedov with both arms and legs. Referee Rulon Day issues a warning, then quickly follows with a stand-up command for the fighters, now with 3:00 left in the bout. Scoggins sticks a side kick in the face of the taller man, as the karate stylist hops around the outside, drawing Nurmagomedov forward. Ninety seconds remain as Nurmagomedov shoots and fails on yet another takedown attempt. Scoggins, now sporting a cut on his right cheek, gets back to his feet and puts a loud kick on Nurmagomedov's lead leg. Nurmagomedov shoots twice more in the final 30 seconds, each attempt shut down by Scoggins with a quick sprawl.

Darren Elkins vs. Alexander Volkanovski

Round 1

Volkanovski throws kicks as he works off his back foot in the opening minute, but Elkins is looking to catch a leg and throw a right hand over the top. Elkins goes to the body with a kick that draws a nod from Volkanovski, then lands another in the second minute. Elkins tries a rolling leglock, winds up driving forward on a takedown, then gets put on the defense as Volkanovski snares him in a headlock. Volkanovski drops to full guard with a guillotine locked on, but Elkins is able to posture up and break up the choke. The featherweights scramble back to their feet, and after a brief clinch on the fence, they're back to the center with half the round remaining. Volkanovski pushes Elkins against the fence, eating an uppercut as he works his way inside on the American. "Alexander the Great" tries to hold Elkins on the wall with a bodylock, gets shoved away. Both fighters connect with left hooks, then Elkins dives into a knee from Volkanovski. The Aussie tries to catch his stunned opponent in a guillotine, but the dazed Elkins somehow climbs back to his feet. Volkanovski clips him with a right hand, but Elkins manages to stay standing and wobble away. In the final 15 seconds, Volkanovski rocks Elkins with a vicious overhand right, then tries to finish with a guillotine, but Elkins is saved by the bell.

Mike Sloan scores the round 10-8 Volkanovski

Round 2

Elkins comes out charging, looking to make up ground after a rough opening frame, but Volkanovski rocks him again in the first 60 seconds. Elkins eats the whipping right hand and stays on his feet, but the Indiana native is bleeding and lumped up with more than eight minutes left to fight. Volkanovski, for his part, isn't rushing things along, opting to control the center of the cage and wait for openings to attack with kicks and right hands. Halfway through the round, Volkanovski jams Elkins against the fence, then tries to disengage with a spinning backfist. Elkins dodges the strike and swings back to clip Volkanovski with a right hand on his way out. Elkins reddens the ribs of Volkanovski with a thudding body kick to the right side. The kick may be Elkins' most effective strike of the round, and it lands again with 90 seconds left. Volkanovski lands a right hand, resets to stick a jab, then over the top with a right. Suddenly, Elkins is looking unsteady again, but he catches the incoming Volkanovski with a body kick, then a counter right hand. Elkins gets his feet crossed as he tries to dash away from a Volkanovski spinning backfist, and "The Damage" trips to the ground just as the horn sounds.

Round 3

Bloodied and battered, Elkins continues to circle the cage in the early going of round three. Volkanovski takes up his spot in the center, where he's able to press out and crack Elkins with a blistering left hand. Volkanovski steps inside to throw a combination, drops to try a takedown and winds up shooting a high double on Elkins at the fence. Elkins, whose left eye and cheek are dripping with blood, defends as he's pressed against the cage. Two minutes left on the clock as the featherweights separate and come back to the center. Volkanovski waves Elkins forward, but he may be regretting the taunting after Elkins feeds him a pair of uppercuts in the tie-up. Volkanovski shoots straight for a takedown, instead hugs Elkins against the fence as the final minute ticks down. Volkanovski releases in the final 10 seconds, then connects with a borderline late punch which leaves Elkins shrugging at referee Jason Herzog after the horn.

Alejandro Perez vs. Eddie Wineland

Round 1

The bantamweights trade leg kicks before Wineland swings his way forward and plants a left hand on Perez's chin. Perez tries a spinning backfist and gets plowed to the ground, but both 135ers quickly spring back to their feet. Wineland lands a right hand to the body, gets a leg kick in return, then catches a body kick from Perez but cannot capitalize. Wineland continues to press forward, backing up Perez to the fence and touching the AKA product with a right hand over the top. Perez circles off the wall and strikes back with a sharp right hand of his own as they hit the halfway point of round one. Wineland gets a knee to the body, then gets staggered momentarily as Perez whips a windmill right hand over the top. Wineland catches Perez throwing a lazy low kick and drops him with a straight right counter. Perez is back on his feet in a hurry, clipping Wineland with a clean counter left in the closing moments.

Round 2

Wineland brings the pressure as the second round begins, but the bantamweights share the same thought and exchange simultaneous jabs, with neither man budging from his spot. Wineland is bringing the pressure early in the middle frame, but his long punches are pulling up short against the backpedaling Perez. The jabs and counters of Perez have marked up the nose and left eye of Wineland, and another right hand from "Turbo" doesn't help matters. Wineland sticks a jab and backs out of the pocket, leaving Perez swinging at nothing. Perez goes back to countering, his left hand still an effective weapon as it repeatedly finds a home on Wineland's grill. Perez tries a right high kick and slips to the ground, narrowly avoiding an illegal head kick from Wineland as he stands. Both fighters try to get something going in the last 20 seconds, but neither is very accurate with their punches.

Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Wineland
Mike Sloan scores the round 10-9 Wineland

Round 3

Wineland presses out from the center of the cage, but he's forced back by a one-two from Perez. Backing up to the fence, Perez slips a two-piece from Wineland but can't land his counters, and now the bantamweights move back to the center. Not terribly accurate striking from either man as they enter the third minute of the final frame. Perez shoots from way out and is easily turned away by Wineland, who continues to pressure from the middle. Another minute passes with little activity and even fewer landed strikes. Perez lands a glancing hook, then puts a kick on Wineland's lead leg. Perez is stuck in reverse but has been doing better work in this round with his counters than has Wineland with his offensive outbursts. Inside the final 30 seconds, and Wineland continues to struggle to connect with punches, though he hasn't stopped throwing them. Both bantamweights swing wild punches in the last 10 seconds, but only Perez appears to land cleanly with a left hand.

Cat Zingano vs. Marion Reneau

Round 1

Reneau takes a leg kick from Zingano, then times a hard, left-handed counter the next time the BJJ stylist throws the kick. Zingano opts to tie up, so Reneau jumps guard; Zingano backs up and allows the "Bruiser" to stand. Late in the second minute, it's Reneau initiating a clinch and jamming Zingano against the fence to deliver a knee to the gut. Zingano fires one in return, then wraps up Reneau in a bodylock. Reneau pulls guard again, wrapping up Zingano and looking to catch an arm or triangle. Zingano bails out, back to her feet, and Reneau follows her, now with two minutes on the clock. The bantamweights keep their distance as they strike, slapping at one another with kicks. They land simultaneous left hands, and Reneau appears wobbled by Zingano's punch. Reneau presses forward to hug Zingano against the fence, but it's Zingano hitting a trip takedown in the final 15 seconds to finish the round on top.

Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Zingano
Mike Sloan scores the round 10-9 Zingano

Round 2

Reneau goes on the offensive early, putting Zingano on the run with some heavy punches. However, it's Zingano once again bringing the fight where she wants it with a takedown. Reneau tries to get something going from the bottom, and eventually her shifting is enough to send Zingano back to her feet. Reneau follows and gets tripped up by a leg kick, allowing Zingano to press inside, clinch and score another takedown. Reneau wraps up "Alpha Cat" in closed guard, but Zingano is nonetheless able to posture up and land a few decent shots. Zingano allows Reneau to stand with 2:30 on the clock, marches forward on the "Bruiser" and gets caught with a straight right. Zingano tries another bodylock takedown, this time in the center of the cage, but this time Reneau is able to keep her balance and separate. Zingano lands a loud leg kick, changes levels and hits another takedown, planting Reneau on her back, where they stay for the final minute of the round.

Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Zingano
Mike Sloan scores the round 10-9 Zingano

Round 3

Reneau presses forward at the start of the final frame, but her aggression leaves her open to a powerful single-leg takedown from Zingano. Landing in side control, now moving to north-south position, Zingano seeks to contain Reneau on the mat as the Californian rolls to her knees. Zingano slows things down with a front headlock, then spins to take the back, forcing Reneau to drop to her back and put Zingano in her guard. With three minutes left, Zingano is grinding away, keeping things tight as she smothers Reneau from top position. Zingano goes to the body with right hands, up top with an elbow, while Reneau finally looks to be wilting under the pressure. Reneau may be thinking of a late submission attempt, trying to lock down an arm or Zingano's head as she wraps her up in a tight guard. Reneau tries to isolate the left arm of Zingano but has to release when Zingano threatens to trap Reneau's limb instead.

Myles Jury vs. Chad Mendes

Round 1

After a slow two minutes in which the featherweights take turns coming forward, it's Mendes who strikes first with a vicious left hook that puts Jury on the canvas. "Money" pounces and tries to pound out Jury, who spins to guard and tries to snare the Team Alpha Male fighter in a submission. Mendes shuts it down and forces Jury to turtle up on his knees under a hailstorm of punches. Jury is covering up, offering nothing in return as Mendes wails away with ground-and-pound from the wrestling ride position, and referee Jason Herzog has seen enough.

The Official Result

Chad Mendes def. Myles Jury via TKO (Punches) R1 2:52

Randy Brown vs. Niko Price

Round 1

The rangy Brown lobs long punches at Price, who backs up in the opening minute, neither man landing much in the way of clean offense. Price starts to get his leg kicks going in the second minute, then runs Brown against the fence with an underhook. Brown spins to take the outside position in the clinch, but Price runs him out to the center and trips him to the floor, now halfway through the first frame. Brown tries to throw up a triangle, so Price stacks him up at the base of the fence, then postures up to drop punches on the "Rude Boy." Brown works back to his feet, tries to take down Price and instead jumps on his back. Price dives to the ground, trying to spike Brown's head and knock him out of back-mount, but Brown stays locked on as they enter the final minute. Brown secures the back with a body triangle, but his legs are so long that Price is able to simply turn over and claim top position. The welterweights climb back to their feet in the closing seconds, and Brown scores big with a last-second knee and left hand.

Sherdog Scores

Mike Fridley scores the round 10-9 Brown
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Brown
Mike Sloan scores the round 10-9 Brown

Round 2

Price goes hunting for an early takedown, gets caught in a guillotine and has to drop to guard, where Brown is able to land some ground-and-pound before standing over his prone opponent. Brown dodges an upkick and comes crashing back to the canvas with a big hammerfist. Price tries to roll up and grab a leg, but as he's working for the kneebar, Brown's chin comes to rest in the curve of Price's left foot. With Brown's face teed up, Price lands a hammerfist that knocks Brown out cold, then four or five more before referee Herb Dean realizes what has happened. Wow. Out of nowhere, Niko Price picks up one of the most shocking knockouts you'll see this year.

The Official Result

Niko Price def. Randy Brown via KO (Punches) R2 1:09

Dennis Bermudez vs. Rick Glenn

Round 1

Bermudez bounces forward on the taller southpaw Glenn, who fends off an early shot from the stocky wrestler. Bermudez catches the "Gladiator" with an overhand right, slides out of the way as Glenn fires a long front kick. Glenn catches Bermudez stepping inside and counters with a nice left hand in the next exchange. Glenn shuts down another takedown attempt, takes a kick to the body as Bermudez presses forward again. Glenn lands a pair of straight left hands, both times picking off Bermudez as "Dennis the Menace" throws a more circuitous left hook. Bermudez gets inside to deliver a hard knee to the gut, but he's still having trouble finding the range for his punches. Bermudez gets in deep on a double-leg but Glenn maintains his balance and denies yet another takedown try. Glenn has a left high kick blocked but sticks Bermudez with another straight left in the closing moments of the round.

Sherdog Scores

Mike Fridley scores the round 10-9 Bermudez
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Glenn
Mike Sloan scores the round 10-9 Glenn

Round 2

Bermudez gets Glenn backing up with a right hand, follows with a leg kick, then the right again. Glenn eats the shots well, however, and continues to throw hands back at the power-punching wrestler. Bermudez catches a kick and runs Glenn to the ground in the center of the cage, finally scoring a takedown on his fifth or sixth attempt. Glenn throws upkicks as Bermudez stands, then rolls to his knees and escapes to his feet. Bermudez eats a straight left, drops his hands to his sides and waits for Glenn to step forward, then changes levels for another takedown. Back up comes Glenn, now halfway through the round. Bermudez bobs and weaves forward, only to get clipped by a Glenn counter. Late in the round, it's Glenn pressing forward, but just as he starts to string together some combinations, Bermudez hits another takedown. Glenn lands an upkick as Bermudez stands over him in the last 20 seconds.

Round 3

Bermudez hits another takedown early in the final frame, but again he's unable to keep Glenn on the floor. Glenn gets up, is taken down again, then escapes to his feet by rolling for a leglock. Glenn stands again, now 90 seconds into a round which has been all Bermudez so far by way of his multiple takedowns. Another takedown lands for Bermudez as they enter the third minute, but Glenn quickly elevates him and creates space from the bottom. On his back in the center of the cage, Glenn is unable to stand this time, and Bermudez comes down to pressure on top. Bermudez lands a heavy elbow, stands and tries to take the back as Glenn rolls to his knees. Glenn goes back to guard, tries to stand and gets flattened out. Bermudez stands over his opponent, and Glenn finally escapes to his feet with 50 seconds remaining. Glenn lands a body kicks, gets taken down but rolls through, and now it's Bermudez on the bottom. Bermudez sits up and drives forward, putting Glenn on the defensive. Glenn uses a kimura to escape the bad position, and this one will go to the judges.

Sage Northcutt vs. Zak Ottow

Round 1

Ottow dives under the first punch from Northcutt, lands a counter right and plows the young striker to the ground in the center of the cage. Northcutt holds Ottow in half guard, now pivots to put him in full guard. Ottow stands up and eats an upkick from Northcutt before coming back to the floor. Ottow nearly passes to side control before being caught in Northcutt's half guard again. Northcutt sits up to try and stand, and Ottow takes the opportunity to pull guard with a guillotine. Ottow rolls through, trying to mount Northcutt with the choke locked on, but he loses it and sets up on top of the Texan once again. Northcutt throws up an armbar from the bottom, putting Ottow on the defense briefly as they hit the middle of the round. Ottow stands up in Northcutt's open guard, eats another upkick and comes back down, this time passing to Northcutt's right side with 90 seconds left. Ottow steps over to full mount, but Northcutt is just too big and strong, standing up from the dangerous position and lifting Ottow with him. Northcutt puts Ottow in reverse with a combination, then catches him shooting and tries a guillotine. Northcutt mounts Ottow but loses the guillotine, and instead finishes the round dropping a few strikes from top position.

Round 2

Ottow wastes little time in securing a takedown, hustling Northcutt back to the mat within 30 seconds. This time, he's got "Super Sage" jammed up against the foot of the fence, landing short left hands as he works to advance position. Northcutt gets back to his feet, takes a knee to the body and makes Ottow pay with a pair of body punches. Ottow dives on a single-leg, but this time Northcutt is ready and sprawls on it. Ottow keeps hold of a body lock and pushes Northcutt against the wall, taking another knee to the gut as he does. Halfway through the round, it's Northcutt taking the outside position in the clinch, landing knees to the body as Ottow tries to slow things down. Northcutt takes a step back and slams Ottow with a right hand, then a left. Now it's Northcutt going for a takedown, putting Ottow on his knees at the fence. Ottow tries desperately for an ankle pick, takes a trio of hammerfists to the side of the head, then collapses on his side, and referee Jason Herzog steps in to halt the bout.

The Official Result

Sage Northcutt def. Zak Ottow via KO (Punches) R2 3:13

Junior dos Santos vs. Blagoy Ivanov

Round 1

Veteran referee Herb Dean of California is the third man in the cage for tonight's five-round heavyweight main event, with judges Dave Hagen, Tim Turner and Tony Weeks scoring the bout. Dos Santos comes across the cage and quickly closes the distance on Ivanov near the fence. The Brazilian switches between stances, settling in orthodox and landing a probing right hand. A tentative Ivanov swings a right hand over the top, immediately marking dos Santos' left eye. Dos Santos lands a body kick shortly before referee Dean calls time. The ref warns dos Santos for leaving his lead hand open, an infraction which could cost him a point under the new Unified Rules of MMA, which are in effect tonight. Halfway through the opening round, dos Santos continues to keep Ivanov backed up to the wall. Dos Santos kicks at the lead leg of the Bulgarian lefty, then stops Ivanov from coming inside with a high-stepping knee. Ivanov waits for a kick from dos Santos and comes over the top with a hard, straight counter. Ivanov explodes off the fence with a four-punch combo, none of which land cleanly.

Round 2

Dos Santos gets Ivanov backing up again early in round two, this time using a spinning kick to put the sambo specialist in reverse. A stiff jab leaves Ivanov blinking, and a one-two from "Cigano" has the Bulgarian backing up some more. Dos Santos double-pumps his jab in Ivanov's face, then goes low with one to the midsection. Halfway through the frame, dos Santos is still pressing forward, though he's not showing the same aggression as earlier in the round. Ivanov takes a turn walking forward, can't get much going, and soon finds himself on the end of dos Santos' jabs again. Dos Santos fakes a punch and goes low on the planted lead leg of Ivanov, catching the former WSOF titlist off guard. Inside the final 20 seconds of the round, dos Santos rattles Ivanov's head with a heavy three-punch combo.

Round 3

Ivanov is on his back foot again as the third round opens up, but this time he takes some chances by standing in the pocket and swinging back at the incoming dos Santos. The first minute sees some of Ivanov's best offensive work, but now dos Santos is scoring with some clean counters. A stiff right hand crashes into Ivanov's left eye; Ivanov comes away pawing at his eye, but referee Dean correctly states that the damage was done by a punch, and the heavyweights carry on without a pause. Dos Santos lands a reaching right hand and is made to pay with a thudding left from Ivanov. Now it's a right hand scoring for Ivanov as he puts "Cigano" on the defensive in the fourth minute of the round. With 1:15 on the clock, referee Dean pauses the action and issues another warning to dos Santos for leaving the fingers on his lead hand outstretched. The big men trade jabs, dos Santos tries a spinning kick but only slaps at Ivanov's body.

Round 4

The extra rounds begin with Ivanov advancing, trying to get inside on the taller man. Dos Santos lands a left hand shortly before referee Dean calls for a break to cut some loose tape off the Brazilian's gloves. Dos Santos comes back to land a body kick, then circles away from the impact as Ivanov reaches out with a right hook. Dos Santos has his jab pumping now, leaving Ivanov stuck out the outside, his only option to occasionally dive forward with a power punch. Two minutes left in the fourth frame, it's Ivanov creeping forward from the center, bouncing a left hand off the shoulder of dos Santos as the Brazilian slides away. Dos Santos counters an Ivanov left with a crisp right hand. Ivanov pulls up short with a flailing combination, takes a jab to the grill in return.

Round 5

Ivanov comes out aggressive, having just been told by his corner that he needs a knockout in order to win this fight. It's dos Santos who lands first as he backpedals, however, continually sliding out of range of Ivanov's offensive bursts. A short right hand from Ivanov bloodies the nose of dos Santos, then the same punch connects again. Soon after, Ivanov comes away from an exchange grabbing his left eye, apparently having suffered another eye poke. Despite a pair of prior warnings, referee Dean does not take a point from dos Santos, and they resume with just under four minutes on the clock. Dos Santos stings Ivanov with a clubbing right hand, but Ivanov is too tough and just keeps coming forward. Dos Santos continues to paw at his busted nose as he stays on his horse, galloping away from the increasingly desperate Ivanov. Ninety seconds left now as Ivanov bounces an overhand right off dos Santos' head. Ivanov is swinging for the fences now, even clipping dos Santos with a pair of hooks, but it may be for naught if he can't find a finish in the next 60 seconds. Dos Santos plays it safe, staying clear of Ivanov until the final horn sounds, and the former UFC heavyweight champ should be on his way to a decision victory.
