Tito Ortiz and Chuck Liddell are fighting each other in less than two weeks, and Ortiz doesn’t think it’s going to be hard for him to prevail. He recently watched one of Liddell’s training sessions in person and was thoroughly unimpressed.

Ortiz went to King’s MMA in West Hollywood, California, on Tuesday to watch Liddell at an open workout. MMAJunkie recorded some of it and got Ortiz’s real time reaction. And it’s priceless.

Ortiz starts by shouting “that’s only 30 seconds! You can’t be that tired that quick!” in Liddell’s general direction. Then, having seen enough, Ortiz heads for the door while proclaiming that it’s going to be a quick fight. Before he leaves, he shouts “that s— looks like junk! … Wow, I guess you are getting old!”

The only reason Ortiz was watching Liddell’s session in person is because he wanted to see if Liddell was putting all his cards on the table. Ortiz had watched some of the clips of Liddell’s training sessions from Instagram, and didn’t think Liddell was being totally honest about his skill level. He said as much to reporters before the live training session on Tuesday. Via MMAJunkie:

“I think he’s sandbagging. I think he’s sandbagging in the fact that I don’t think he’s that slow. I hope he’s not that slow. It’s going to be a short night for him if he’s that slow.”

Now that Ortiz has seen him in person, it’s safe to say that he no longer thinks Liddell is sandbagging.

Liddell responded, also talking to MMAJunkie before the open workout. He defended himself and his skill level, challenging anyone “talking trash” to “take one of the kicks” he was throwing. He also said he was in great shape and might even consider continuing to fight after this match because he’s enjoying it so much.

” … there’s nothing I enjoy more than being in the ring and fighting. This came up, and I jumped at it, I took a shot at it. I’m so happy I did because I haven’t been this alive in years.”

It’s hard to know what’s posturing and what’s not, but Liddell is 48 and has been retired for eight years. Ortiz is 43, but has competed nine times since Liddell retired in 2010. Their fight is on Nov. 24, so we’ll soon see who’s up to the challenge.
