European MMA promotion Cage Warriors will stage a special invitation-only event on a purpose-built set at the BT Sport studios in Stratford, London, on September 6, with a one-night world championship tournament set to take center stage.

Dubbed “Cage Warriors Unplugged 2,” the event will feature a one-night, four-man tournament to crown a new Cage Warriors bantamweight champion.

MMA Junkie confirmed details of the event with Cage Warriors president Graham Boylan, who also revealed the structure of the one-night tournament that will feature heavily on the night’s fight card.

The two semifinal bouts will be contested over two 5-minute rounds, with a third round implemented to determine a winner if the fighters can’t be separated on the scorecards.

The winners will then progress to the final later in the evening and will compete over three 5-minute rounds, with the victor being crowned the new Cage Warriors bantamweight champ. The four fighters set to take part in the tournament will be announced in due course.

Boylan first hinted at plans for the event backstage after Cage Warriors 106: Night of Champions in June, but he wasn’t able to provide concrete information about the event until now.

An event at BT Sport’s state-of-the-art studios is nothing new for Cage Warriors. The promotion held its first “Unplugged” event at the facility back in 2016 with a card that featured Liverpudlian stars Paddy Pimblett and Chris Fishgold.

Now the organization is set to return to the multi-million-pound facility on the site of the London 2012 Olympic Games with its latest showcase of top-level European MMA.

No tickets will be available for the invitation-only event, but the show will be televised live in the U.K. and Ireland on BT Sport, as well as Cage Warriors’ regular global broadcast partners, including UFC Fight Pass.
