William Saliba may be wondering what he's let himself in for after watching his new club Arsenal surrender a two-goal lead at Vicarage Road.

The £27million-rated centre-back, who signed for the Gunners earlier this summer before being immediately loaned back to Saint Etienne, decided to attend Sunday's clash and sit alongside the club's supporters in the away end.

Saliba, who is currently out injured with a groin injury, was spotted by eagle-eyed fans in the build-up to the game before he took his seat to watch the Premier League encounter.

And it was all going so well after Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's first-half brace put Unai Emery's men in complete control going into half-time.

While Watford were the better team, Arsenal just needed to survive the second-half onslaught to hold on to all three away points.

However, Emery's men were their own worst enemies as Sokratis served Watford's first goal on a plate after his pass was intercepted inside his own area, allowing Tom Cleverley to fire home.

The Hornets were then awarded a penalty which Roberto Pereyra dispatched with ease, completing a brilliant comeback on Quique Sanchez Flores' return as manager.

The almighty collapse will have been painful to watch for Saliba who is set to return to action for St Etienne in October.

After being spotted at the game, fans took to social media to praise the young defender for attending the game in person before asking whether he could return to the club sooner to shore up Emery's leaky backline.

One fan tweeted, 'can his loan deal be terminated?' while another demanded fans to 'block his vision' following Arsenal's shambolic defensive display on Sunday.

However, following a tough afternoon, many questioned what Saliba must've been thinking

Following his move, Saliba was full of praise for his new employers after he revealed that Matteo Guendouzi convinced him to join.

Saliba said in July: 'Well, first of all, it's a massive pleasure to sign for a really, really big English club.

'This is the biggest club in England for me, so it was an easy decision. I didn't think twice about signing here, so I'm really happy.'
