UFC: Dana White says it’s ‘hard’ to get Conor McGregor to fight again because he is ‘super rich’

Conor McGregor is a box office superstar for the UFC and both parties love to make money, but does McGregor have the same hunger he once did?

Everyone seems to have an opinion on who Conor McGregor should fight when he returns to the UFC.

But, when you're as rich as the Irishman is, does he need to return at all?

Notorious has a billion dollar whiskey business, competed in the most lucrative fight in sports history against Floyd Mayweather and has headlined five of the UFC's six highest-grossing pay-per-views of all-time.

He's recovering from an injury he suffered in training at the moment, but the common consensus seems to be that the Mac will want to face the winner of Khabib Nurmagomedov - the last man to beat him - and Dustin Poirier.

According to UFC president Dana White, Tony Ferguson would actually be next in line and he doesn't know where McGregor fits into the equation.

“Khabib is fighting Dustin Poirier in Abu Dhabi in September,” White told LVSportsBiz Guerrilla Cross Radio (transcribed by MMA Junkie). “Then I don’t know, we’ll see. Tony Ferguson just came off a great win this weekend over ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone, and I’m assuming he’s next.”

White has previously stated that no decision would be made until the conclusion of UFC 242 in Abu Dhabi as far as who fights the winner goes, partly because it gives UFC and the recently-injured McGregor ample time to negotiate his return.

“We’ll see what happens with Conor – what Conor wants to do,” White said.

“Conor is super rich. It’s hard to get guys to fight when they’re super rich.”
