Nurkovic reveals how Kaizer Chiefs fans kept him going during injury absence

Kaizer Chiefs striker Samir Nurkovic wants to pay back the Amakhosi fans for the support they gave him while sidelined for four months with injury.

The 28-year-old made his first appearance this season two weekends back after coming off the bench in a 2-0 defeat to Maritzburg United.

Since then he's started two matches and scored one goal and registered one assist, in victories over AmaZulu (1-0) and Cape Town City (2-1) respectively.

"It felt fantastic after a long time. Tough four months for me, it was really nice to be back." the Serbian marksman told Chiefs media.

"Like I said millions of times, my job is to be upfront and to score goals. Thank God I scored that goal in the first game [start] after a long time, and the feeling was unbelievable and I'm really happy that I made my contribution to the victory.

"The goal aside, the previous two games against AmaZulu and Cape Town City, the team is really working hard, not giving up on anything.

"We have to use this momentum to keep on moving forward, one game at a time. We have to give our best in every game to achieve what we want," he added.

Nurkovic also revealed that he received a lot of support from Chiefs fans while he was sidelined, and says that although not having supporters at the stadiums is a setback for Amakhosi, the team remains inspired by their fans.

"Really difficult four months for me. Every day you can see some supporters - wishing a speedy recovery and all that stuff. But sometimes you need time to get back on the field and you can't rush," he said.

"It's not the same, with supporters at the stadium, than without. It's a big difference because they have always been our 12th player. Its harder without them. But that hard work we are giving now is all for them."

Next up for the Glamour Boys as they look to make it three wins on the trot is Tuesday's home clash with TTM.

"We have to focus on ourselves and our play, we have to continue with our good fighting spirit, what we give to supporters in the last two games, and we have to keep momentum going forward," Nurkovic stated.

"It's about myself, my teammates - where we can improve ourselves and what we can do better."
