Ubisoft's Game Sales Grow On PC This Quarter To Second Highest Platform
Ubisoft has a lot to be proud of this quarter. Not only are their game sales doing amazing, but they're one of the only publishers that does incredibly well in the first half of every given calendar year. In their report for the first quarter of their financial year, Ubisoft had an interesting statistical note: PC game sales have usurped the Xbox One as the second place for the publisher.
For this quarter, PC sales accounted for 24 percent of Ubisoft's total game sales, up three percent from the same time frame last year. PlayStation 4 made up the bulk of game sales with 38 percent, down from 44 percent the previous year. Xbox One remained constant at 22 percent. The Switch is at 5 percent, up from 1 percent last year.
It looks like the PC is actually siphoning sales from the PlayStation 4, which fell 6 percent from the same quarter last year. The Xbox One is actually remaining consistent, but as far as Ubisoft is concerned, there is not much in the way of growth on the platform. Not that growth is specifically important when talking about market percentage as long as the absolute copies sold go up proportionally.
Still, it's interesting to see the PC grow as a place people are choosing to play Ubisoft games.
