Actor and musical savant Jack Black has uploaded to his gaming YouTube channel, JablinskiGames, and his latest video contains new gameplay footage of Psychonauts 2.

The gameplay starts pretty ominously, with protagonist Razputin "Raz" Aquato standing in front of a white spirit ball, voiced by Black himself, while surrounded by darkness. There are glimpses of light here and there that seem to be looking out into a universe. Black says he's supposed to guide "this little energy ball to try to figure out clues to what it's former existence was." The video then jump cuts to Razputin wandering around a colorful stage before he gets sucked into some trippy eyeball zone.

There are various, brief platforming sections and puzzle-solving moments in Black's gameplay footage. As Black talks over the gameplay, mentioning how the last rounds of recording were impacted by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, we see him falling off platforms left and right. He also calls up director Tim Schafer to ask if tripping on mushrooms was the goal of Psychonauts 2. You can check out the gameplay below.

Earlier this month, it was reported that Jack Black would play the role of a “magical mote of light” in Psychonauts 2. In addition to voice the energy ball, Black lends his voice to various background songs and main tracks in the game. Psychonauts 2 is slated to launch sometime next year for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. It will also release on Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Series X.
