So I need to ask, is this even worth $6? The gameplay doesn't look awful but the battle system looks super low budget

It's a VN. I'm not into this genre, so for me, a hard no.

I grabbed one because why not.

The story parts are very VN like, but the "combat" is more of a strategic "move your guys around to cover as much territory as you can, and determine where the hidden enemies are".  I really enjoyed the base game on the ps3, but I'm not sure what the "Special Gigs" bring to the equation.

There are multiple endings based on how much you use certain characters, so it takes playing through the game a few times to see them all.
