Go Vacation, the 2011 Bandai Namco game for Wii that resembled the Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort franchise, is being ported to the Nintendo Switch.
Go Vacation’s suite of mini-games spans scuba diving, surfing, jet skiing, ski jumping, snowmobiling, parasailing, whitewater rafting, kayaking, equestrian events, tennis, skateboarding, mini-golf, hang-gliding — it’s kind of hard to keep up, really.
The concept is the same as what helped make the Wii Sports titles a hit: Give folks a lot of stuff to do, make it feel like they’re doing it on vacation, make it more fun if they play it in local multiplayer, and give it all a cheerful hotel lobby soundtrack.
Go Vacation is launching July 27. The game comprises four “resorts,” Marine, City, Mountain and Snow, with activities themed for each. It wasn’t much of a critical success when it launched for Wii in 2011, but with a new console and no similar first-party competition for it out there now, maybe Go Vacation will do better.
