UN probe indicates US air raid killed 13 civilians

The US is investigating the bombing in Kunduz and says it takes every precaution to prevent civilian casualties.

The preliminary findings of a UN investigation in northern Afghanistan has found that a US air raid on Saturday killed 13 civilians, most of them children.

The attack in Kunduz followed a Taliban raid which killed six Afghan and American soldiers.

US forces relaxed their rules of engagement last year and the result, according to the UN, has been more than double the number of civilian casualties from the previous year.
