British architecture firm Forgewoods has finished the renovation of a House of Wood Shingle, which is a bungalow in Bath. The design cloaks the entire exterior with a layer of cedar shingles. It rests on top of a wooden hill in a forested area and was designed for Celia McCarthy, who is the founder of the interior design firm Richardson Studio.
The entrance was moved from the front to the side as a new layout of the space. Forgeworks director Chris Hawkins speaks about the design, "While the existing house offered limited visual and spatial appeal, it held significant potential in terms of base materials and structure. We approached the project as a holistic transformation, essentially tackling the original structure with a visual and thermal 'cloaking' that redefined the house."
