I'm going to be honest guys, I don't like any of the Dagestani fighters. But, I have spoken very highly of Makhachev in the past. I think he very well could be the greatest lightweight ever.

It's no surprise that I am predicting that the upcoming rematch will go very similar to the first one. But rewatching Islam's fight with Volk, I think if this fight goes beyond the third round, Islam could get in a lot of trouble. I don't think Volk hurt Islam in the fifth round. I think he was too damn exhausted to do anything about it.

On the side note, this makes Chandler vs Islam even more interesting.

Well he was fighting Volk. The dude who outpaced Max Holloway.

Volk makes anyones cardio at 155 look mediocre. He's a demon.

Islams cardio isn't amazing but it's ceirtanly no problem imo. Im very interested in how this rematch plays out.

volk cardio and pace are something else tough, and islam cut a lot of weight , in australia if i recall correctly they had a different rule concerning the time between the weigh i and the fight, so that affected his cardio even more, he probably won't have a problem elsewhere (especially not in abu dhabi if you kow what i mean)

Relative to who? Compared to Volk and Khabib, yeah, his cardio isn't great.

Good enough for his fighting style to oppress people? Seems like it to me. He's not the best grappler either, but it's good enough in conjunction with his wrestling which is definitely is great (pretty much top class).

Islam is great at oppressing people. He has enough tools to control the outcome or persuade the judges.

Dude Makhachevs cardio is top tier, vs guys like Wade and Tsarukyan when it was even early on in the grappling exchanges, it was Islam's conditioning that carried him to victory as the fight went on. His striking is super low output so maybe if he was unable to secure takedowns and was pressed standing he'd fatigue but we haven't seen that yet so it's just speculation.

The only example of Islam slowing down in the UFC is vs Volk and Islam had a bad weight cut due to considerably less rehydration time than normal and fought a natural 145er who has some of the best endurance in the entire sport, maybe ever...and shit, Islam won the 4th round. This is a really stupid opinion.

How?

Islam's cardio isn't the best but it's a heck of a lot better than Chandler's
chandler has cardio he just doesnt manage his energy well.

Anyone fighting like chandler will get tired in 2 rounds.

Islam's cardio is fine, and if goes beyond the 3rd rounds, Oliveira has never gone longer than that in his entire career, so don't know why you'd assume his cardio would be better than Islam's.

This - well said good sir.

Everyone has so much recency bias that all they remember is the last round of the last fight and mostly the last minute of it.

He's more exploitable than Khabib because he likes to strike and trade. He has power, knows it, but also leaves himself open.

On top of that, his style isn't as smothering.
