After launch woes, Call of Duty WW2's Headquarters are finally occupied

Call of Duty WW2 seems to be getting back on track after a shaky launch period.

The new Call of Duty has been enjoying some huge sales success, but has struggled to keep up with the number of people playing the game.

Call of Duty WW2 has had the highest concurrent player count the series has seen in years, which presented some challenges for Sledgehammer Games - they needed to switch off leaderboards and hamstring the 'Headquarters' lobbies so that the game would run smoothly.

The game has had problems with bugs and glitches since launch, and a patch shortly after release only made things worse. There were enough issues for us to make a dedicated page for CoD problems, which is unfortunate.

Now, though, it's looking like things might be on the mend. Multiplayer First is reporting that players are now finding that they are successfully able to popular Headquarters with the full 48 player allowance. For a long time Headquarters were locked to a single player, or simply could not be fully populated (despite the game being played by so many).

And here, courtesy of Charlie Intel, is what a populated Headquarters looks like:

We recently found out that Call of Duty WW2 had also been accidentally awarding double XP since launch, too.

This all means that Call of Duty WW2 is, right now, about what Sledgehammer Games presumably wanted it to be when it launched - meaning that it's probably a good time to jump in if you haven't yet.
