The memo helps us provide final vectoring on what year America was great, the year we are heading back to: 1955. Detroit was putting out cars like link sausages, blacks were mostly stuck in the margin of the country's page, and only wealthy women could have abortions.

This article following the one below about a male infertility crisis is very odd timing.

We've all known where the Republicans stand on women's health forever. This is not shocking or new, or even news worthy. They're farking evil, and want to make evil farking laws.

2017-10-22 7:17:05 AM
And every study on the subject ever done, has time and again shown that all the birth control and reproductive health stuff the Republicans oppose, actually far and away save more money for the government in the long run, than any budget cuts ever proposed by a Republican congress.

1955? WAAAAY too late. Gotta go back to, at minimum, the Industrial Revolution. That was when not only were women and minorities fair game, but businesses could do basically whatever the fark they wanted, up to and including hiring the military to gun down union strikers.

I can't remember, did the majority of white women in this country vote for this administration? Actually I do remember, and the answer is yes. Nice job, ladies. I guess they never thought *their* faces would be eaten.

For a while, I used to forward articles like this to Mrs. Green.  I would make the email subject something like "Can you believe what the idiot did this time?".  Later, we'd talk about whatever he had done that day and laugh at those dumb enough to support him. But after 250 consecutive days of newsworthy, horrific behavior, the fun has dried up.  All that we have left is sadness.

No, I don't. So many people keep repeating this. We can't simultaneously be underpopulated to fund am entitlement pyramid scheme and have a massive, looming unemployment crisis due to automation. The solution is to tax robot labor. More people just means more months to feed in a world with nothing for most people to do.

All good points. The nineteenth century would be a great place for Trumpers, i.e. older white, uneducated men. But you have to admit the  greatness of the 1950s: we had just kicked ass in two major war theaters AND we had just stolen one of the greatest cultural contributions--rock and roll--from the black man. That's why I place it where I do.

My wife and I throw these dinner parties. At our last, I invited three of my best students: a young woman from Syria, and two young men, one from Arizona, one from Pakistan. We seated them next to each other--they know each other and I wanted them to be comfortable. At one point in the evening, they had a protracted conversation about soccer. Turns out all three are big fans. From my perspective, America is great right now and heading for more.

The whole point of the wingnut approach to birth control and abortion is to punish women for having unauthorized sex. It isn't about saving babies. Wingnuts don't give a damn about babies once they're born.

It still won't get them laid.
Cuz' you know - women don't respect "nice" guys.
Dirty sluts - let's punish 'em.
That's really what Trump's election is about. All the shiat, rejected punks in America "getting even" with all the girls who have laughed at them.

In such a system, every person simply adds 1 to the denominator of per capita income. Let's say all the robots bring in $20T/ year. Would you rather have 200M people each getting $100k/year, 400M getting $50k, or 800M getting $25k? We could have a world where everyone is wealthy and the total American footprint on the environment is greatly reduced. We should be aiming for smaller families, not encouraging larger ones. The goal should be to maximize average life quality, not to just barely keep alive as many humans as possible.

If you keep poor women pregnant they usually opt not to enter the work force at all.
Which leads to their children leading lives of poverty. Rinse, repeat.

There appears to be no limit on republican stupidity. Moving away from evidence based decisions by lying about the evidence supporting them.

It is not surprising as it combines two republican strengths: stupidity and dishonesty.

I love how the answer to almost anything with business is to give them money, and the laws for people are all about prison time.

Want more widgets? Pay for them to be made.
Want more widgets ? Punish people for not making widgets.
want more babies? Punish people for not making babies.

Just read that memo. Yes, there are a few dot points that are unfortunate (regarding sex education mainly) but that is only a small portion of the wishlist. There are actually some really good ideas in that list. Is a shame outrage is easier than considered reading.
